We're going to be in WDW for the first week of October and I want to take a one day excursion to Islands of Adventure/Universal to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but also to stop at some other favorite rides in either IOA alone or both. That's still up in the air. In researching prices, I'm concerned about how much more I have to pay for this one-day trip. It appears that the base price for one park, one day is $79 and for two parks it is $109. If i want to add this Express Pass thing (which was free when I went many years ago), it's another $25.99.

It just seems quite odd to spend upwards of $135 for one day at the theme park proportionate to how much I spent on a 7-day park hopper pass for WDW. I'm wondering if there are every any deals out there for admission that I can look into.

It's never cheaper to purchase a one day ticket...even at Disney. They make the tickets cheaper the longer you stay. I think the really cheap tickets for Universal have gone away...at least for a while. If you are really only concerned about visiting WWoHP and IOA, don't worry about the two park ticket. It's not a lot more to upgrade if you decide to do so. Also...you shouldn't purchase the Express passes ahead of time since they are non-refundable and date specific. Unless you're going over a holiday weekend or peak season, you shouldn't need them. Plus...it's unclear if the Express passes will be honored at The Forbidden Journey...though you could use them for the remaining attractions.

You might want to check with your local AAA office to see if they have any ticket specials but I haven't seen anything except for FL residents.
