Adjusting dates and room requests

We're planning on traveling June 3-12, 2007. We'd like a 2-BR villa at our home resort, which is SSR.

Our plans are set as long as our cousin can get those dates off from work (he just started a new job and didn't want to ask for days off yet).

What would happen if we booked those dates now (or on July 12 since that's 11 months out from our departure date) and needed to revise them, as in not cancel but adjust our dates? Would that be considered a cancellation thus changing our points to reservation-only points?

We don't want to miss out on a 2 BR as we need it for our party to stay together (5 adults plus 3 kids under 3). Do you think we have a bit of time before we need to book, or should we book now?

We (3 adults plus a baby) will also want to downgrade to a 1-BR after 5 nights; can we request a 2-BR that is a 1-BR plus a studio so we can make that shift easily? We'd also like one of the 1-BRs that has two queens so that our 3 adults can all have a bed - is this too many requests?

Thanks for your help.

Reservation Points only happen when you book at a NON-DVC resort.

There are no 1 bedrooms with 2 queens in any DVC resort. You can try to get a lockoff and keep the 1 bedroom part but that is only a request, not a guarantee.

No 1 bedrooms will have 2 queen beds and a sleep sofa. All 1 bedrooms have a king bed in the master and a queen size sleep sofa in the living room plus a Pack N Play for a baby. The two bedrooms at OKW have 2 queen beds in the second bedroom, and some of the dedicated SSR 2 bedrooms do as well, but the lock off units (the ones that would be a 1 bedroom attached to a studio) will have 1 king bed in the master, and a queen plus a full size pull out in the second bedroom and a pull out queen in the living room.

Adjusting reservation dates with DVC is actually cancelling some days, and requesting others. As long as you do so before 30 days prior to check-in, you can do so without any point "penalty". If you cancel any days within 30 days prior to check in, the points for those days go into holding status and must be used by the end of your use year.

So, adjusting days on a reservation would be a two step process for MS. They would cancel the days you don't want and return the points to your point total, then book the additional days if that type of room is available. If it is, they'll link the new days and you'll still end up with one reservation.
