My sister and I are both DVC members at the SSR....we're planning a surprise for our mom's 70th b'day and want to take her to the world the first week of December this year. My question....if we wanted to get studios (possibly adjoining) at SSR would we need to make our reservations together? Any insights are welcome!

As far as I know, and these days, it's not much......There are no connecting studios. The studios are connected to 1 bedrooms in that they can be rented as 2 bedrooms. You can request studios near one another, but they will not guarantee anything.

You can request to be near each other when you make the reservations. I just made one for a visit I have this Summer and requested to be near my friend. (Remember the key word REQUEST. the last time I did this we were at opposite ends of OKW which was not what I requested, but was just the way things worked out!)

As Alexander pointed out there are no connecting or adjoing studios.

Unlike some other hotel chains, Disney makes a distinction between "connecting" and "adjoining" rooms. It considers adjoining rooms to be any 2 rooms of any kind that are somewhat near each other on the same floor of the same building. This is never guaranteed. In most of the Disney resorts, it is connecting rooms that have that lockable door between them. However, in DVC villas the only connecting rooms are the studio/1-bedroom combinations that make up many of the 2-bedroom suites, and the only way to get one is to reserve a 2-bedroom.

We also requested two studios to be as close to possible to one another. When we received the confirmation of our reservation it was noted on both. Hopefully we will have better luck then some. If not atleast we are in the same resort(lol).
