We have reserved 3 rooms, can you request ahead of time for adjoining rooms, or do you ask when you get there?

You should probably get this moved over to the Resorts section of the Dis, I'm sure someone over there will know!! ;)

You can request in advance, so that they make a notation on your reservation, but you will have to ask again when you get there.

Keep in mind that there is a difference between "adjoining" and "connecting". Ask for "connecting" if you want a door that opens between the rooms on the inside. :)

Moved your post to our Resorts Board the experts here can give you solid info to your question.:goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

I would say definitely ask ahead of time, and again at check in. The more time they have to try to accomodate your requests, the more likely they will be able to do so.

I dont think that they guarantee connecting rooms unless one has kids only in it, but I would check that with CRO ahead of time anyway. Even though they may tell you it is only a request, not a guarantee, in my experience they try there best to give guests something they will be happy with.:)

Have a great trip!

I was going to suggest the same thing. Adjoining rooms are next to each other. Connecting rooms have the door between them. And, yes, I would request in advance. They won't promise, but at least it will be in the record. I would ask again when you check in.

Beware.

I paid my balance for a preferred room 6 months prior through WDW site and requested an adjoining/connecting room (on website and via phone) with my mother in law who also paid for preferred room. Upon checkin, we were informed at AllStar Sports that they were overbooked and not only would we not be in a preferred room (building close to buses, food court, pool, etc) but no connecting room. In fact, my mother in law who was traveling alone on her first Disney trip in 20 years would not even be in the same builing as us. Very upsetting at first though we did not let it spoil our trip. This was Feb 2007 off-season but with some overlap of dance and cheer competitions during our stay.

The cast at desk were not very apologetic and did not offer ANY compensation and were suprised when i asked for a refund for the $10 extra per night that i paid for the preferred room. After talking to several cast members on site and several calls from home after leaving, I finally got my refund for the $10for each night of stay 5 weeks after I left disney and 7 months after I paid for it! Not impressed with the way they handle reservations at AllStars. After 2 trips there, I think we're done with ALLStars. This trip changed our view of them though we had enjoyed the value aspect. Hoping our next trip to a deluxe will be different though i'm sure there's problems that arise everywhere.

Something similar happened to me at the ASMu a few years ago. I was not happy either, though they did refund the $10 a night right then and there. I found out later that if Disney does not have the room type you paid for at the resort you chose, you can make them move you to a similar room at a different resort. If it is worth the bother to you. Supposedly Disney is never supposed to down-grade a reservation, only up-grade. So in theory if no value resort had a preferred room available and a moderate did, they are supposed to move you if you ask.

perkinsrose,

So sorry to hear of your trip problems. I am surprised they gave you a hard time about the refund -- that is really not OK. We've stayed in the deluxes and have always been treated well, but I would expect that at any Disney hotel, not just the more expensive ones. I hope your next trip is better!

It was actually Feb 2008, I miss-typed.
Not sure i would've thought to ask to be moved to another resort. Glad to know for future.

Problem was we arrived at resort 11pm--probably why WE were chosen to be downgraded rather than others. Had i known late arrival would've been an issue, i might've chosen to arrive a morning flight instead. Since we were so late, our magical express luggage was still in transit and wouldn't arrive til after midnight --then would've had to have been forwarded to whereever we were moved to. Also we had a 3rd party that was joining us mid-trip so they would've had to be moved also.

I was just very surprised and disappointed Disney didn't do more to "make it all better". Surprised i had to go through so much effort to get my money back. I expected them to go out of their way to best fix the problem. But we did have a good trip and undoubtably our next stay will be without such problems.

Were the rooms actually booked under the same reservation, or were they two seperate reservations, with a note to request adjoining/connecting rooms? I wonder if it would make a difference if the rooms had been booked under the same reservation?

This was just a thought I had as I was reading the information. We traveled with my MIL in January, and did get connecting rooms, so I can only imagine how difficult it was to deal with that, and then the difficulty of getting the refund on top of it!

Separate reservations --1 other party was with us for first half of our stay, another party was with us 2nd half of stay. Assumed the other 2 parties would be in same room that connected to us.. in a perfect world.

Anyone looking for connecting room, i would call resort day before you arrive and maybe again while you're traveling there to confirm. They're not guaranteed but keeping on top of it might help your odds. I was told they make room assignments within day or two of guest arrival.

I was told they make room assignments within day or two of guest arrival.

But this can also change the day of. When we went to check in at POFQ in May '07, we were booked a room that didn't meet our requests. However, the wonderful woman who was checking us in saw our requests noted and got the room assignment changed.

keep in mind that it is only a request. As a Pp said , they only guarantee connecting rooms if the amount of children in the party out number the adults.

Also not 100% true. More then once on these boards we have heard stories of people not getting connecting rooms since they had at least 1 more adult in their party, even though the number of kids was greater then the number of adults. Why? They expect the adults to simply split up between the rooms, keeping one adult in each.

OP... as has been said, this is only a request. I would call now to make sure it is noted on your reservation ahead of time. Then, when you arrive at your resort, reiterate your request to the person checking you in. I would say, since they can change room locations around at the time of check in, the earlier you can check in the better. It may give them more leeway in your room assignments. The time of year you are going will also impact it as the fuller the resort, the less rooms available on any specific day of check in.
