Hi-from my understanding if I book directly through Universal, I'm guaranteed they will be together? Are the adjoining rooms throughout RP, or in a specific tower?
We currently have a hospitality suite booked there, but I'm seeing the $ it's costing, and was now considering adjoining rooms instead. It's just my husband and 21 year old son. He doesn't mind sleeping on a pull out, (if we stayed with a suite), but I think, 2 bathrooms is a huge help. Savings to stay adjoining rooms at RP is $1400 for a week. If switched altogether and went to Portofino suite, the savings would be $819 for the week.
I'm starting to drive myself a little nutty will this! Thoughts appreciated (never stayed at Portofino, but we have stayed at RP and do like it a lot!)
Thanks!

There are lots of connecting rooms throughout RPR. If it is cheaper, I'd go connecting rooms. Portofino suites are nice too since they have two bathrooms.

Thanks! I guess we'll just have to discuss it, and see what everyone wants-to be honest, when we stayed at RP (quite a few years ago), we really enjoyed the tropical theme. Last year we stayed at HR, and thought it was ok-I guess I'm just hoping if we choose Portofino over RP, everyone will be happy!

Here's a fun story.

My wife and I had an adjoining room with my in-laws last year. As we are getting everything together to check out, we go through the connecting door and all gather in one room before leaving. A couple hours later my father in law gets a call from the hotel, asking if everything is OK because nobody is answering the door in our room and it's past checkout time. Apparently we left the door locked from the inside before exiting through the adjoining room.

This is going to sound silly, but make sure you request "connecting" instead of "adjoining" if you want a door between the rooms. We were really upset with one particular hotel (not at USO) when they gave us adjoining without the door and they explained that our request was for adjoining not connecting. With three young children, that was a major disappointment!

I find it interesting that you aren't just getting a Q/Q room for the three of you at one of the resorts, OP. The fact that sinks are separate from the toilet/tub room makes it easier. If cost is a factor at all, I'd just go this route.

We have two adult children that travel with us and we do just fine in a single room, though we did splurge last trip with two connecting Q/Q at RPR for the four of us.

I have heard that yes, if you book directly through Universal, they will guarantee connecting "upon availability," which means they should be able to tell you when you are reserving if you get connecting or not, and they will give it to you if you have it. If you book through somewhere else like Orbitz, they will also guarantee connecting upon availability, but this is a room request that is looked at when your room is assigned closer to check in, and you will get it if they have connoting rooms available, but you won't know until you check in. Hope that makes sense. I didn't know about this difference when i booked through Cheaptickets so we are risking it, which is OK..our kids are not little.
