Just booked 2 cabins for 2/24, does DCL have to unlock the doors, or can we do that with ease?

Hi Clarabelle.....if you have adjoining rooms then are just next to each other....if you have connecting rooms then they have the interior door between them. I only say this because if you ask for adjoining from DCL they will not necessarily give you connecting.

If you do indeed have two connecting rooms, just ask your room steward when you get to your rooms....I am not sure how the connecting doors work..I am sure someone who has stayed in them before onboard can give you insight. They must lock somehow or people would be walking in on each other all the time!!!

Good point about adjoining and connecting. I learned that many years ago with Disney. If you want connecting, you have to request it, or you could get adjoining.

If you have connecting rooms, the doors will have a deadbolt type lock on the inside of each door. All you need to do is turn each lock and you can walk through to the other cabin. DCL does not need to unlock them, all you need to do is have the person in the other cabin turn the lock.

We kept our doors open with door stoppers so we did not need to keep opening the doors when we needed to go into the other cabin.

gn2wdw - did you bring door stops with you or did your steward give them to you? I was going to bring bungee cords for our cruise this summer but door stops are a good idea!!

started to panic, but yes, they are connecting, 2602 and 2604!!! I am so excited about this I think I may burst!!!! My sis is even more excited, especially because she is one of those compolsive planners, and only has 39 days to plan, instead of the usuall 52 weeks!!!

Just a hint. Make sure they are connecting. I was promised 2606 and 2608 were connecting. Guess what they were not. I even spent an extra $200.00 to book with Disney because Sams club could not get me the connecting rooms. We booked about 9 weeks out. One parent in one room with 2 kids and other parent in another room with one kid. I was sooo disappointed.

Ooops dd just told me rooms were 2506 and 2508. Anyway same situation not what I was promised.

ClarabelleCow, we just returned from our 1st DCL Cruise on the Wonder 8-21-05. We had rooms 2602 & 2604. They are connecting rooms, and we loved them. They are close to the aft elevators, which take you to Deck 9 where the Beach Blanket Buffet is and the soda bar for free drinks. Our boys are 15, 13 & 8 and we decided on the 2 rooms instead of 1 Family stateroom and are we glad we did. 2 showers and 2 bathrooms made things so much easier and it was actually cheaper.

We had connecting rooms. If you leave the deadbolt extended into the out position, but do so with the doors open... the parties in each room have access to the other room. I hope this made sense. Having the deadbolt extended keeps the door from shutting all the way, that way the party in the other room only has to push the door to open it.
