Adirondack Vacation suggestions

Hi all

i was interested in taking the family to the Adirondack Mountains this summer but I have no idea which area to look in to. We like to hike and be by water and just enjoy nature but I am definitely not a camper!!

Any suggestions?

The Lake George area is beautiful. There is lots to do : Six Flags Great Escape, Lake George Village (for outlet shopping, mini golf, wax museums and arcades), hiking and nice drives. About an hour north is Ft. Ticonderoga, and you can take the Lake Champlain ferry into Vermont if you want to.

We are vacationing here this summer. No more tent camping for us!

In Lake George there is a lovely place called Canoe Island Lodge. I believe it is somewhat rustic. I know people who have stayed there and loved it. I believe meals are included. A really nice resort is the Sagamore,also on Lake George. It has all the usuals, plus a wonderful spa. I will warn you that the village of Lake George is kind of odd-a few nice stores and then many of the usual but junky tee shirt stores. There are good restaurants in and around the area. There is lots of great hiking in the area and the trail heads are very easy to find. A town with lots of charm and great restaurants and good shopping and swimming and hiking is Lake Placid New York. The Mirror Lake Inn is there as is the Lake Placid Lodge. It is about 90 minutes north of Lake George. Lake Placid also has the old Olympic site there. (1934 and 1980 I believe) There is lots to do in both areas in the summer. The weather shoould be warmer late July early August.Let me know if you have any other questions-I would be happy to help!
