Adios Captain EO

Since there are only 7 Future World pavilions they can't really refeb more than one at a time, so hopeful Imagination is next in line, because there's a new version of Soarin' coming to the Land pavilion next year, and Innoventions got a new paint job, a Starbucks, and Colortopia this year, plus Test Track is just a few years old, Nemo and Mission are still "fairly new" and Spaceship Earth is the lone "classic ride" that's always getting little updates.

Imagination and Energy are the only two that really seem old/out date to me, and there have been rumors for the past few years that the Imagination ride is going to get redone. I'm hoping this new film fest is just something to hold people over so they can get to work on the Imagination pavilion. I can't see them shutting down the Figment ride and having nothing but EO. I'll miss Captian EO but this Film Fest seems like "something new" for that area of the park but not "something permanent", I hope it's a sign of better thing to come to Imagination

Thank goodness. I just hope something better will replace it. It's a movie, there is just some times you call se it. And 30 something years old movie just doesn't cut it.

Any new news on when the Pixar Film thing is going to open. I'm going to be there in a coiple of weeks and I'm hoping for something new to do.

I believe a couple weeks after the EO closure. It shouldn't be a long change over.

My concern is that if they have something in the hopper, why not just roll it out when its ready, rather than run what is basically a cheap and lazy bridge? Conversely, the fact that they didn't a) just leave it running till the projector died, or b) close it, throw up a wall, and pretend the pavilion no longer exists, is a promising sign.

Adding in Colortopia, there are signs of sprouts peeking above the dirt in Future World. As with HS, I think it's going to get worse before it gets better though.

We are going in Jan 2016. Had all our plans ready and ADRs made... then they announced SOARING being closed. And we started wondering if there was even a reason to go to Epcot.... So for an eight day trip we have 1/2 day allotted for EPCOT this time. Maybe if it were Food and Wine or Flower and Garden we would spend more time without SOARING open...

While Soarin' being closed is too bad, it hasn't changed my plans for EPCOT. We're only going three days and will be spending one at EPCOT (two at MK). The girls (6 and 2) had a great time there in January. Despite the lack of new rides, it's still #2 of the four for me in terms of visits.
