Another resort bites the dust. The sale of the last of my 4 Beach Club Villas contracts has closed, so I no longer own at BCV.

We had to decide what to get rid of after adding 205 points at the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian (VGF). We just had more points than the two of us could use.

We ended up picking BCV as it lacked any sort of view and we already owned a bunch of points at BWV.

So, I'm now down to just four home resorts, after disposing of AKV, VWL and now BCV these last three years. It's a bit sad to let go of a resort we've had numerous enjoyable stays at.

I'm in the process of selling VGC too, and am getting much more than I paid for it. Then I'll be down to just three home resorts - until the DVC at the Poly goes on sale.

Wow! I want my DVC membership to be like yours when I grow up! ;-)

Congrats on your sale!

Good for you, Mike! And kudos for selling at a time when you can get a great price for the contracts you are selling!

So after experiencing them all the way you have, which is your absolute favorite?

Why are you selling VGC? Not planning on going to DL much anymore?

My personal favorite would either be a MK view room at BLT or a boardwalk view room at BWV.

While I love DLR and VGC, it's much more convenient to visit WDW - shorter flight, same time zone, magical express, owner's locker, etc.

Can't say it better than Jean! How did you choose which ones to sell? I would have trouble selling AKV. I would never buy BLT or BCV, so those wouldn't be an issue for me. I think I might like the Poly if it ever becomes a reality for DVC, but I'm done buying.

We are also consolidating which resorts we own. We used to own at BLT, BWV, VWL and BCV. With the rise in resale prices, and the possible emergence of Poly DVC, we have sold BWV and are waiting to close on VWL. It was tough to sell, especially VWL, but thought it would be easier to deal with two (hopefully 3 in a few years!) resorts rather than having 4 or 5.

Loved BLT when we stayed.

I hear ya about VGC. I've got the opposite problem out west here. I don't go to Disney as often though.

Congrats on the sale and purchase at VGV. When is your next trip? Think you can send a few pics our way on here? I always enjoy your reports.

Guess it is time to update your profile reflecting all the changes you have made in your home resort portfolio. I give this reminder with kindness since I recently had to do the same...but slightly different...we added rather than subtracted.

All in all it sounds like you have a plan that works best for you and Mrs. DVC Mike and that is a good thing!!

Nothing like rearranging your stock, I mean dvc portfolio. Good for you!

We have given some thought to selling some and buying others - but oddly enough, we would likely do some things no one else would do.

We LOVE our HHI points, and our BLT points- not so in love with our AKV points (they were our first buy) - and we own so few points at SSR, that I wish we either owned all of our points at HHI and BLT or HHI and SSR.... or possibly HHI and OKW.

The only think that we really about our AKV points is Jambo House.

After visiting AKV to have breakfast with friends a few weeks ago - we really don't care for the miles... and miles of hallways at AKV in addition to the miles and miles of travel to get anywhere else on property. Jambo house isn't much better - but at least you have a legitimate quick service dining location, a fantastic lobby, a great lounge in the lobby - a signature, and a buffet restaurant.

While I do love the Animals and the theme - I just think that Disney has failed that resort in terms of transportation. The bus system all over the property leaves a LOT to be desired - and with no boats, or other forms of transit... you are a minimum of 30 minutes from anything on average (including the wait time for the bus to arrive).

You can't beat the location of BLT - but once again, the bus situation isn't the greatest.

Come to think of it, is there really a DVC resort with the perfect balance of transportation options?! HAHA

No; which is why I never ever recommend resorts to friends based on transportation. Also what one personally likes is so different. I despise the monorail, it slow, old, smells and breaks down way too much.

Also for some reason I seem to attract rain and even lightning, so walking from a park back to my resort is not a fun adventure for me. I honestly do not mind the buses, they are fast, clean, don't break down and as quick or quick as other transportation. So to me based on distances to the 4 parks, OKW and SSR are the best located to me and we enjoy the boats to Downtown Disney and looking forward to the expansion there.

One of the great things about DVC is the variety of resorts. Since no two of us are alike, it only makes sense that there are different choices for our favorite resorts, parks, restaurants, etc. Our first purchase was at OKW and we loved it. Then we added at BWV, VWL, BWV, BCV, BWV, sold VWL, sold OKW, added BCV so that we are down to just BWV & BCV. Would we stay at OKW or VWL again? In a heartbeat. The only reason we sold was to consolidate points for the 11 month window advantage and we found it is fairly easy to book OKW & VWL at the 7 month window for the times we normally visit. Are we through adding? NO WAY! After our trip this October, we will have stayed at OKW, BWV, AKV, VWL, BLT, BCV and ARS. That leaves SSR, VGC, HHI and VB. We have plans for them in the future as well as VGF when it opens. The thing we have found is that every resort is great and all of them have their good and not so good points depending on your individual tastes and tolerances. Each time I thought we might not like a certain resort as much as others, I am pleasantly surprised and find something unique and pleasing about it after our stay. With the addition of VGF, there will be a dozen DVC resorts. Now if I can just win the Powerball, I can buy at each resort and go to a different one each month! If I can figure out how to win the lotto, figuring out when to stay at Poly when it's added will be easy! :lmao:

Okay - we just got back and rode the monorail a few times - we don't always ride it for each trip. I thought I was the only one who thought it smelled. What is that smell anyway.

Does anyone know? Just curious. TIA.
