NOTE: If you'd like to skip the 16th Birthday stuff, which won't be happening until January 2012, click here to start reading about my plans for my July 2011 trip to Disney! From there on out my plans will revolve around July 2011 (:

Hello DISers!

Let me start off with saying, this trip is totally 100% all me. Well, the planning part. I'm not going by myself, haha.

Last summer I brought up the idea of going to Disney World for my 16th Birthday, to my mom. I still haven't gotten a direct answer. But I'm going for it! Hopefully if I plan it all out, give her some different options, and talk her into it, it'll be a go! So that's what this PTR is going to help me do. And with the help from all of y'all, my faithful readers, it'll hopefully happen.

So let me introduce myself. I'm Sara, I recently turned 15 (2 weeks ago!), and, like most of you, I love Disney.
And some Disney pictures from our last trip, July '10!

Who, What, When, Where, and Why...

Well, I already told you the main who. And considering I'm not even sure who the other Whos will be, let's leave that for later.

And you already know what- A WDW vaca for my 16th Birthday

So that brings us to WHEN!

Now, I'm pretty lucky that my birthday, January 16th, falls on a Monday next year. Lucky? How is that lucky? Hold on, I'm getting to that part. Well, a certain "I have a dream" man has a very special day in January. His day is celebrated the 3rd Monday of January. Which, in 2012 will be January 16th. Boy, did I luck out or what?! My birthday falls on Martin Luther King Jr Day next year! So, that's what is pretty much keeping this Dream alive. Thank you, Martin Luther King Jr!

I have two different options of how this can be done.

Option #1 After school, on Friday, January 13th (WHOA. Friday the 13th. Cool) we hop on a plane to Orlando! High Schoolers get home arounf 2:30, but my mom doesn't get home until 4:00. So, she's defintely coming with me, I assume she'd either take off this day, or take a half day. It's roughly a 1 hour flight to Orlando. We could either stay at a off property hotel this night, or the hotel we'll be staying at on property (I'll have an update about hotels later!). Maybe hit DTD... or possibly even a park! Then January 14th we'd do one park in the morning and one at night. Head back to the hotel. Sunday, January 15th we do one park in the morning, one park at night. And then Monday, January 16th will be my birthday! We'll probably go to one park- MK or Epcot probably. And hopefully we'll have a birthday ADR. 'Ohana? Le Cellier? Tuttu Italia? The Wave? I'll get to that in a future update. And then we'll take a flight home that night- a 7 o'clock flight? So we make it home and we're able to be ready for school the next day (yay! not.)

Option #2
Same thing, except we get a plane earrrrrrrly Saturday, January 14th and have less park time. But we would be spending one night less in FL. I don't know which option will please my mother more.

(Sorry, this whole update is me chatting away. I promise the next update will have pictures)

Next update: Where!

I'm here! A sweet sixteen at Disney sounds perfect. Happy belated birthday.
You look so pretty in that recent picture of yourself.:goodvibes

I'm here, I'm here!

I'd want to go with Option #1 (:
Cannot wait to hear all about what you've got planned!!!

Here, very late and reading! Awesome PTR, Sara! I just noticed this in your sig. This sounds like you have this trip pretty well planned out already. I can't wait to hear what's more in store. You seem to be really thinking of this when writing this PTR almost a year before it happens. LOL :)

Thanks for joining in, Timmy
I'm so OCD, I've got to have EVERYTHING planned. And since this trip would be totally what I want to do, I get to plan every single thing myself (: Of course, my mom has to agree.

We're most likely going to WDW again this summer, so when the time comes I'll include that stuff too, but I'm mainly focusing on my birthday trip, haha

Who= covered, partially
What= covered
When= covered

That means it's time for the where!

I've got FOUR hotel options. I like some more than others, but I'd be happy with any of them.

Option #1
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
DSC00882.jpg

Pros- Deluxe resort, spacious, good resort transportation, key to the world, can send to the room, great theme, close to AK
Cons- costly, closest to Animal Kingdom Park
Comments- My favorite option. Not sure yet what view we'd go with...

Option #2
Disney's Wilderness Lodge
wilderness.jpg

Pros- Deluxe resort, can hold up to 6 people, closest to Magic Kingdom Park, good resort transportation, key to the world, can send to the room
Cons- costly, very nature-ly themed
Comments- A good option, but I'm not in love. My 3rd favorite of the 4

Option #3
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
Disneys20Caribbean20Beach20Resort201.jpg

Pros- Cheaper, close to EPCOT, good resort transportation, key to the world, great theme
Cons- rooms aren't that big, can’t send to the room
Comments- My 2nd favorite of the 4 (which is impressive for this being a Mod)

Option #4
Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter
portorleansfrenchquarter1.jpg

Pros- Cheaper, good resort transportation, key to the world
Cons- not as much room, can’t send to the room, not as close to 4 parks
Comments- My least favorite of the 4

QUESTION: Which one would y'all go with?

VIEWS
Animal Kingdom Lodge: either Standard Room with Standard view ($240 a night-hosts 4 people) or Standard Room with Pool view ($250 a night- hosts 4 people) or Standard Room with Savanna view ($310 a night- hosts 4 people)
Comments: I'd like to go with Standard Room Pool view or Standard Room Savanna view

Wilderness Lodge: either Standard Room with Standard view ($240 a night- hosts 4 people) or Standard Room with Woods view ($275 a night- hosts 4 people)
Comments: Woods view? I'd probably be fine with Standard Room Standard view

Caribbean Beach: either Water view Room with view of lake/pool ($174 a night- hosts 4 people) or Pirate Room with Standard view ($179 a night- hosts 4 people) or Pirate Room with Water view ($204 a night- hosts 4 people)
Comments: I'd like to go with Pirate Room Water view (but all three of those options are fine with me!)

Port Orleans French Quarter: French Quarter with Water view ($174 a night- hosts 4 people)
Comments: Only view I'd like (:

QUESTION: What do y'all think?

So, you can see that AKL and CBR are my top two (:
