I have been to Disney World several times with my oldest son who has Cystic Fibrosis and have utlilized the GAC card. I understand that it is different now.
Next summer I am planning on going on a trip with my 8 year old son (who will be 9 at the time). He has ADHD and also shows signs of sensory problems. He is very hyper. He has problems staying still, paying attention, and is constantly covering his ears with loud noises. Does he qualify for the Disability Access Card? I don't want to try and misuse the system and feel that he would be driving everyone crazy if he had to wait in lines.
Thank you

No one here can answer that. Only the Disney Cast Members can make that determination.

I went last year with my then 7.5 year Old who has ADHD and ASD. Personally I did not use the DAS....I knew it was an option but wanted to try without. There is lots to see in the lines, we played little games like I spy, abc game (looking for all the letters), and when it got really desperate I pulled out my phone. Does he use any headphone in his daily life? If so I would bring those. We did that and also rented a special needs stroller from Orlando stroller rentals. We don't use that in normal life or at the zoo, etc. but I thought he may be on sensory overload and need a place to retreat and get his space. I was right. You can also get a stroller as a wheelchair tag to take the stroller in line as well. I didn't do this either but knew it was an option if we needed it. I wouldn't worry about driving people crazy...it is full of loud wiggly kids. Good luck!

I got one of those stollers for my older son and was thinking about getting him one as well. I do not have head phones for him but have been thinking about getting him a pair to see if it would help him. Thank you.

there is no one thing that if you have the DAS will cover it is bast on what your needs are while waiting in line

To get a DAS card if you qualify you will stop at GS and explain what your sons needs are in line.

As the PP said there are a lot to do in lines and head phones or ear protectors work great have things to do play. find hidden mickeys ( maybe get a book ) play 20 questions. bubbles are some things you can do

Please, no bubbles in line - you're in a moving, confined space, how do you keep the bubbles from getting on other people?

For strategies to help handle lines (as the DAS would only get you out of the attraction lines, not the food lines, bus lines, entrance gate lines, etc) I'd speak to his teachers to see how he handles it at school.
