Adequate tipping for Mousekeeping

Staying at the PC, and I really do like to tip for housekeeping. Esp excited about here at a WDW hotel.. I hear if you tip they have more "fun" with your room.

What is the adequate tip? I was thinking $5/day. Is that too much, or not enough? It is just myself and DD, and we don't make TOO much of a mess.

Tipping the mousekeepers does not guarantee they "have more fun with your room." It depends on the mousekeeper, their work load that day, etc. I wouldn't want you to be disappointed if nothing happens.

That said, WDW does not list mousekeepers as a tipped position. However, if you choose to leave a tip, $1 - $2 per day per person in the room is adequate.

Hi Deedee and Princess!

Just wanted to mention that it's best to leave the tip every day instead of leaving the entire amount at the end of your stay since you might have a different mousekeeper on different days. My dh and I hadn't thought of this 2 trips ago and left our tip at the end. Last trip we tipped every day--left an envelope in an obvious place.

As the above poster noted, tipping doesn't "guarantee" that you'll get extras from mousekeeping. That being said, we got nice surprises every day from our mousekeepers at both ASMu and AKL on our trip this past January. We tip $5/day (just dh + me) because that's what we're comfortable with. We also left a larger amount on the last day at AKL because our mousekeeper there (Iris) was sensational!

Exactly as Muffy says - 5 bucks a day, with a little extra on the last day. And if the room was done really nicely thru out the week, a little more each day - Hey! You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, I always say!

Do the mousekeepers get ticked off if you tip in Disney Dollars? Silly question but we've been loading up on them to make sure we have cash for the trip.
