Today, I booked a reservation for my husband's friends who will come from China to visit their son in boarding school here. When the CM asked me for their address, I told her to use my address. She said she could not. They will verify the address on the ID at the time of checkin. So I left the reservation under my name for now while trying to contact them. I am not sure they will have an id that shows their address in China.

Are they really checking the address now? Last time we went with some friends, our guest arrived before us and checked in without any problem.

Yes, they will ask to verify the address at check in - along with photo ID. If your guests will have passports, be sure to use the address on that document for the reservation. The passport will serve as photo ID as well verifying the address. These are post 9/11 changes to the reservation process.

Enjoy!

You might ask them what address their Identification papers will have on it and use that.

We get asked for a photo ID at check-in and at the security gate when first arriving.

Thanks for the confirmation. They will use their passport which has no address on it. They probably have a Chinese driver's license, but the address is in Chinese. I will ask if they can get a translation certification. Any one else has experience with foreign visitors?

I would call back to MS and ask them to check about what sort of ID is required for foreign guests who's documents are in a foreign language.

Giving this some more thought - the most important thing at check-in is the photo ID and the passport will certainly cover that requirement. They will ask for verbal verification of the physical address, but I don't think any written verification is required - they always ask us at arrival, but I think that is more to make sure the DVC info is up-to-date.

I'd still get a physical address from your guests and provide that to MS for the reservation. They can then verbally verify that at arrival.

Leave your name on the reservation and add their names, that way they'll be able to check in. The only thing that may get you is if they are doing the DDP or you would be over the occupancy.
