Addonitis getting worse during COVID

So I am admittedly overly focused on adding on through the resale market in the best of times, but with all of the cancelled WDW trips as a result of COVID (we missed out on trips in March and May and have now cancelled August and November, as we are in Canada and border restrictions make travel even more challenging) and the uncertainty as to when we will be able to get back to WDW, DL and Aulani, I find that my addonitis is getting worse as it is the only ‘Disney’ I can get at the moment! At least that is my excuse. DH just thinks I’m crazy. Anyone else find that their addonitis is getting worse in the present circumstances??

I feel you. Being stuck in has made me nuts about buying future travel. Bought DVC and also Welk Resorts, booked a cruise, 3 trips to Hawaii and some to the east coast. At least I can look forward to vacation...

I love Aulani. We are on the west coast, so makes sense for us to own there. Highly recommend!

It is FOR REAL! We just signed on our third contract since November. We didn’t need more points, but I kept looking had been seeing some good contracts and made an offer. I really didn’t expect the offer to be accepted....ooops.

I’m waiting on BLT in ROFR with the ‘spending money’ from canceled trips this year. Sitting in Australia though with all these travel bans has me nervous. The naysayers are out in force telling me this pandemic won’t end. This week I’ve had an offer accepted on a BWV contract, trying hard to let it go but I’m struggling.

Haha me too! If everyone could kindly not go back through my history and read my posts that I would not purchase any contracts during this uncertain period (considering I just offered and agreed on a third!!!), that would be great . I figure well the money would be gone (from trip anyway), so it was just spare cash even if prices do fall, lol.

Interesting. I’ve had the opposite problem of thinking about selling one of my contracts. But then I keep telling myself to wait it out. Now if resale prices dropped about 20 per point lower than they are now, I might come down with a terrible case of addonitis!

I did the same thing, but I did a moral sin I bought a non DVC beach front timeshare (resale).

We have two more contracts in ROFR. We couldn't get a deal on AKL so went for #2 choice BRV. We bought 100 points and then two weeks later a compatible 50 point contract showed up so we HAD to buy it too! Our son and DIL are trying to decide between a direct for AP's or a resale... We cancelled two WDW trips, they snuck one in, cancelled one and cancelled an Italy trip. As far as we are concerned that is travel fund money!

I get that this feels eternal but all things pass and Australia can't survive economically unless we open up at some point. I am only looking at contracts that are stripped of 2020 points so I feel more confident about the purchase. The pandemic will pass, we will reopen, and life will start to return to normal. If Australia doesn't reopen, we have more to worry about than just the pandemic.

I’ve been focusing on stripped contracts as well...complete turn around from this time last year when loaded contracts were the prize! I like that I don’t have to worry about maintenance fees and potential wasted points. And better prices!!
