Good morning:
My family has already signed up for 3 FP+ for each day of upcoming trip. They are spread out mid-morning to early afternoon. Because of Disney grouping we were not able to obtain every ride we wanted for young and old. When is it possible to obtain fast passes in the parks? Do we have to wait until the last Fast Pass+ time?
Many thanks for any insights.:cool1:

FP+ and legacy FP are completely independent of each other. You are limited to 3 FP+ per day maximum, but if you can access legacy FP also you can use that system at any time as well.

I'm going to be honest here in saying that they are considering those who use both FP+ and legacy FP as double dippers because technically your only supposed to use the FP+ system. The old system is being phased out and is supposed to be for those who are not using FP+. If you want to obtain legacy fast passes you still can at any time but you need a hotel card you can't use a magic band to obtain the old passes that's where they won't let you.

FP- can be obtained at any time they are available with your KTTW card, if you're at a hotel that is still issuing them.

But you do know, you can go in after you schedule your FP+ and reschedule the times and pick different options for different members of the family, if that's what you want.

This is not entirely true- if you ask at guest relations you will be told you can access both systems if you have a kttw card. Disney has no rule stating that you're not supposed to use both systems. Eventually they plan to get rid of the old system all together but as of now guests are allowed to access both systems depending on their resort. The negative connotation of double dippers was invented by the boards.

You do realize that you can go back to the FP+ and change times or attractions to see if you can find a better fit for each member of the family, right? You have to check which people you want to change so you can do only those that want something else. It laborious, but doable.

And times can be changed as well.....one ride at a time, but it will then show you other times available.

Sorry but this is not a consistent message - I was at WDW last week and witnessed members of guest relations telling another guest that they could only use one of the fast pass systems. Either FP+ or legacy FP - this may or may not be the official line but it is certainly not just a message here on the disboards.

Also, some resorts are FP+ only. As a.PP stated, you can go in and change times and rides around to what suits your family best. It does take time but worth it to get the best use out of the FP+ system. If you are unfamiliar with rides and wait times, you might consider checking some of the wair time apps. I would hate for you to grab a FP+ for Mickey's Philharmagic or People mover when those rides typically have super short waits. Peter Pan and Big Thunder though have long waits and in my opinion would be rides to consider using a FP+ on.

Would we be able to use the "tickets" we received from WDW to access FP. I did link them to my magic bands, but I still have the hard ticket.

If they're linked to your magic band, no, you cannot use them to get FP-.

I understand that and I never said you couldn't do but really your not supposed to the old system is going good bye once the new system is fully implemented.

This statement contradicts itself - you can, but you're not supposed to? If Disney gives you a card that can access the FP system, of course you can use it. If they didn't want you to use it, they wouldn't give it to you.

I was able to use my UT 6 day hopper to pull a FP- last week. I never tried pulling one with my room key. My UT ticket was linked on my MDE account.

When we checked in last month at CSR, not only did we get two sets of MB's, we were also given one set of cards for our RO reservation (2 nights), and another set of cards for our MYW reservation (14 nights) at checkin.

Both sets of cards were able to pull FP- at all parks. However, the MYW cards would only work when the person it was assigned to had actually entered the park that day with the MB.

The RO cards always worked, regardless of whether or not the person they belonged to entered the park that day.

This held true through the duration of our stay ending Saturday 12/7.

Now you have to ask for it Disney is giving out MB as default not KTTW cards four resorts are doing this and more are coming in January.

If you're "not supposed to", someone needs to tell Disney. I could pull with my AP no problem, plus before I got my AP I could pull with my room keys (I was a room only Guest). I also used the FP+ system, which was largely useless to me. The FP- is what I really used the most.

Once the old system is gone, it won't be possible. For now, it's still possible for most.

What is this January you speak of? You've got inside information saying this is not happening until January for the rest of the resorts??

I'm not talking about AP holders I'm talking about guests who are staying in site with magic bands not DVC either just once or less a year travelers. It's not supposed to be used by those who just have magic bands is what I'm saying.

Well that's what I've heard I would guess there would be more resorts in between also. But I heard that Caribbean beach will get that in January right now pop century and the all stars have it I would expect AOA would be next then that would be the values the to the moderates and so on. Just assumption

No I get that. Your statement made it sound more matter of fact like you had some "inside" information, so I was curious. It's my belief that they will have all resorts online by Christmas. Assumption on my part.

But since we haven't heard any new announcements yet and it's Wednesday already, they may have run into some problems.

Where did you hear CBR will change over in January? On here or from somewhere else?
