Addition through subtraction at HS?

Is the primary reason for Disney axing the Muppets 3D show for the incoming Monsters attraction is to save CM wages? Is it really an addition through subtraction thing?

Pretty sure it's a space thing since the new land will have a coaster and a show - and I believe a restaurant, and probably at least one store. So that's at least as many CMs if not more.

I wondered if it was a space thing, or if that was an excuse. I really have no idea.

Addition through subtraction is standard operating procedure at Disney these days.

I really don't think there's space for all they have planned for Monsters, Inc. anywhere else in the park.

Plus pretty sure the ride will use more CMs than MV3D - all the loaders, the people controlling it, etc. MV3D was just a couple for doors and the one doing the announcements.

Perhaps it was just a space issue then.

One of the advantages of building in Florida was the "blessing of size". If that area wasn't big enough, I bet if they looked real hard they could have found an area with more space.

What i meant by that was they wouldn't have to staff two different attractions.

Have you ever looked at a map of DHS. Not a park map, but a geographic map of DHS. The park is hemmed in. The show building for the new Monsters Inc door rollercoaster is going right behind MV3D's current theatre. It is probably going to cause a change in Cypress Dr and access to the CM building back there. If you look up at Animation Courtyard it is all the other support and staff buildings behind there. Relocating all of that would be expensive and time consuming. It would also likely require substantial road work south of the park because on the south side of Cypress is the only place those buildings could go. Unknown if water management would approve the development there. The last truly reasonable place to put new, large scale projects in DHS is where the Indy show and Backlot Express are. I would imagine Indy is going to be heading for the exit within the next 5 years as it is.

MuppetVision 3D --> New Monsters Inc show
Pizzarizzo --> New QS/food stall
Closed merch store --> Open merch store
Dirt and road --> New rollercoaster
Mama Melrose --> Harryhausen

This was always going to be phase 3 for DHS. Not sure why everyone is super surprised by this.

It's going to be far easier and and cheaper to put MI in the Muppets Courtyard (and expand toward/into the parking lot) than to put it into the Animation Courtyard, where they would need to relocate a lot of employees and tear down/repurpose office buildings. I love the idea of the Muppets taking over for Aerosmith. Then, after Villain's Land opens in MK they can shut down the new Villain's show next to the Muppet coaster and put Muppets 3D in there, basically creating a new Muppet's Courtyard ... WITH A ROLLER COASTER!!!
