Has anyone had any experience with Disney and addisons disease especially with cruising. My husband recently got diagnosed and we are fearful of cruising again. Would love to hear about any experiences especially good ones. Thanks T:cheer2:

I"m not familiar with Addison's disease- how would it affect cruising?---Kathy

Hi
Addisons disease/adrenal insufficiency, your body doesnt make cortisol so you have to replace it orally. It is serious because your body runs on cortisol. Its not cruising per say but if he got the rotovirus, sea sick or anything that would make him vomit he would need to inject himself and get to a hospital. Also your bodies adrenaline rush increases your bodies use of cortisol so before he was diagnoses he went on splash mountain and it nearly killed him. We really didnt understand why he got so sick after the ride but it was because of the heat and adrenaline rush. He had no cortisol in his body at the time. Thanks for your interest.:)

Thanks for the explanation. The only thing I could recommend is talking to his physician to see if there are any reasons he couldn't cruise due to his medical condition. There is a medical center onboard and I'd be sure to take out the vacation protection coverage that does cover emergency medical evacuation. There are medications, such as the scopalomine patch or non-drowsy dramamine, or more natural seasickness remedies such as ginger or sea-bands..that's another question to ask his physician though to prevent seasickness so he doesn't have an emergency like you described. ---Kathy
