I was looking over our reservations, and addind a new one, when it prompted me with the question about any special celebrations.

I added our wedding anniversary to our reservations - so what does that really mean?

Nothing.

Some restaurants will add special confetti to your table, but that really depends on the specific restaurant. It's more likely to happen for children at a character dinning location. We've celebrated our last two anniversaries, and four birthdays at WDW, and have indicated the celebration on our ADR, but nothing has ever happened.

Anniversaries: 'Ohana, Le Cellier
Birthdays: Mama Melrose, Artist Point, Brown Derby, Spirit of Aloha

We had confetti at our table at the California Grill and a small glass of champagne. And maybe a little extra attention from our waiter. A lovely evening and a great choice for a special occasion.

CRT brought us out a little cake with a candle on it (anniversary) and CP put mickey head confettis in the shape of a heart on our table and every server that passed wished us Happy Anniversary.:thumbsup2

We had a congratulations card w/ a signed Mickey picture in our room for dd's graduation & a balloon. With a strategically placed coupon card for photopass of course :rolleyes1

It was noted when the cm took our phone reservation and also when I did online check-in.

ETA:

LOL, I just realized I was in the Restaurant board. So uh, nevermind!

We did get a dessert & a card a LeCellier though for dd's birthday one time.

CA Grill this past December, Mickey confetti (which I saved), small glass of champagne and a dessert with a chocolate card on top with Happy Anniversary written on it. We were celebrating ou 35th anniversary and I added that to every reservation. Yachtsman Steakhouse, Blue Zoo and Capital Grill (off-site) did not acknowledge it nor did the BWV's.

Crystal Palace put Mickey head confetti on our table because we were celebrating my best friend's graduation.

We had personalized anniversary menus at Artist Point and Narcoossee's. And at Cape May we got this:

I vacationed with extended family about a month ago, and one of the things that we were celebrating was DH's mom and dad's anniversary. They were given special desserts at 'Ohana, Le Cellier, and Cape May. They wore their anniversary buttons, and many cast members wished them well all weekend long. One of the CMs on the friendship boat to DHS had them giving the other guests marriage advice, almost like a talk show! It was a lot of fun.

I added my DD's graduation to our Chef Mickeys ADR and they brought out a cup cake, sang (really loudly) that it was celebration. She didn't know that I had done this, it was a suprise!

The last 2 summers we went it was during my friends b-day, and then my sisters b-day. We received attention at the following:

Boma breakfast - Signed card and desert plate
Chef Mickey's dinners - both times a cupcake and song (all the b-days get sung too at the same time)
Crystal Palace breakfast - Confetti on the table
Hoop de Doo Revue - best pixie dust BY FAR. We were on the free dining plan but got moved from tier 3 to tier 1 when we checked in and were RIGHT next to the stage and the piano. My best friend was picked to go on stage and do the Can Can dance. That mixed with unlimited sangria? You can't ask for a better Disney night!
Tonys Town Square - Confetti and streamers, and my sister got a special ice cream dessert.

There may have been more but I can't remember. All in all, it's good to list it on your ressies. More than likely nothing will happen, but SOMETIMES, it can be a really nice surprise if something does :)

Wow!

How nice!!!! I think I'll not say anything to hubby and see if anything happens.

Thanks!

We were there in 2009 for my birthday and our HM. We had champagne at some restaurants, a little cupcake or fantastic extra dessert at others, a card signed by characters or staff members in their native language and our tables were decorated at most. I would not expect this, but it is a nice surprise if it does happen. Hopefully, your experience will be much the same.

I put my DH's Bday on some of our ressies.

Mama Melrose: he got Happy Birthday and that's it
Biergarten: they announced his B-day during the show
Le Cellier: he got his dessert for free, and they wrote Happy Birthday on the plate
Whispering Canyon: They gave him a birthday cupcake and "sang" Happy Birthday (a Humorously bad version of it)

The CM's all over the parks will also say Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary to you if they see you with a button.

Cape May Cafe gave my uncle a special dessert for his retirement. I couldn't tell you what it was because it came to the table while I was getting my own dessert, and my uncle ate it before I got back :lmao:

best strategy is not to count on anything, but be excited if you do get something. It really depends on the restaurant and what mood the gen manager is in or the server.

We've had our anniversary dinner at AP every May since 2000 and probably 75% of the time we got something (personalized menu, glass of champagne, free dessert) the last year no one even mentioned a word. We aren't button people though.

Coral Reef has done lots of special things in the past, but I think they had to stop because of so many requests.

It can be random.

We added mine and my daughters birthdays to our reservations in 2009 (all 21 nights!!) We got a birthday cupcake just about every night - have to say the novelty soon wore off and I have been ordered by DH not to mention any special occasions this year when we go!!

I agree - it probably varies a lot. Just enjoy and appreciate if they do something special.

When we were there for our honeymoon trip, our server brought us this dessert at Le Cellier.

At Sci-Fi, our server brought us souvenir cups filled with caramel corn.

Not elaborate gestures, but very sweet and we appreciated them. :)

I just finally made a couple reservations for our upcoming trip in May...where can I add our celebrations?? It didn't ask me.

p.s. is there a website that has ALL the menus for ALL the restaurants that I can just click from menu to menu easily?
