How is that going to work, am I going to have to take a caculator with me for every meal to work out the 18% or will they work that out and let you use your room key to pay for it? (if I am told how much to pay then I pay that and not one penny more)

think they will give you a slip with the 18% on it,but what hapens if bad service do you have to call server over to reduce the tip for you and agin its only automatic next year, when using DDE and partys over 6.not too sure but think union aggread 18% for all meal plans?will find out jan 1st when it kicks in

outside of WDW? :confused3 Do you take a calculator to every restaurant? Why would WDW be any different? The % you leave is at your discretion beginning in 2008 on DDP.

In re to the DDP for 2007- we have purchased for our trip Nov 07- will we have to tip at each dining location or is the tip included in the price of the plan?

when you first receive your check the dollar amount is always there to show you how much the meal cost. You can then base your tip on that amount. When you give them the room key indicating you are on the DDP then they give you your receipt with the total amount of meals left.

The '07 DDP still includes the tip...so you won't have to worry about it.

Re: '08 we will tip between 15%-20% depending on the service. We don't plan to tip a blanket 18% as Disney did.

Tax and tip are automatically included in the plan for 2007. All you have to do is give the server your card and sign the bill. Of course, if you receive outstanding service, you are more than welcome to leave a few extra dollars on the table.

This is great news! glad our trip is taking place prior to the change in policy. Having to add tips and take a bite out of the budget!

When service is good, we always GENEROUSLY tip- my sister was a waitress and we know what it is like to be tip dependent. However, we were in the Turf Club in SSR this July (our home resort incidently) and the service was sooooooooo bad, that even a 15% tip would have been generous. We are going with a group of 7 in April and if I encounter that type of disasterous service again, I am going to feel really ripped off handing over the mandatory 18%. I am not the type of person to start trouble by calling over managers, but I am going to be really ANGRY!!!

So you are going to be upset, do nothing about it, and then probably let it effect the rest of your night/vacation? Call me stupid, but speaking to a manager seems like a better idea.

it's been my experience that most cell phones have calculators built right into them... no need to carry any extra electronics!

Here's the question I have about it, though, what if you get an alcoholic beverage? Then what happens? You will pay for the drink and then tip too, right?
