Ok, a little background, so far me, DF and my dad are booked for our 2 week wedding holiday with Virgin.

My dad would like to add on the DDP, so he must add on park tickets with Virgin to do this.

I think this should be ok, although I booked us together, and we don't need park tickets as we received free annual passes for our wedding, my dad is on a seperate reference number so I think it will be ok to add his pass and dining plan, so we should get around the "all members of the party must add the DDP" rule because of the seperate booking numbers I think.

We wouldn't mind adding the plan ouselves, but if we don't want our tickets through Virgin we will be unable to add this, is that correct?

As far as you're concerned I think you can add it because of the annual Pass,WDW has recently changed the rules to allow AP holders to book DDP,if you trawl the US Dining thread there will be more info

if he is under a sepreat ref number he will be fine and you should have to do it cos its two seperate bookings altough they may be linked on virgins system

I saw this, but as we're not booked directly through Disney, I think Virgin may still say we need the hotel and ticket package to add the DDP.

I can't answer your query but I hope you don't have to ring Virgin cause they are useless.
Unfortunately, I think the only way we could add it on (if we can!) is to phone Virgin. Technically it's still a reservations query though, not an after-booking thing, so I'll call reservations instead of the awful post-booking area.

I'm pretty sure the bookings are linked, and if they bring up our booking, I'll say sure add the dining plan for us too, but we aint buying your tickets!!

Once I know my dad's decision (just deciding if he defo wants to add it, and also trying to persuade my mum to come still - long story, but we're going to have fun when it comes to all these amendments with Virgin!) and once I've called, I'll let you know what the outcome is for future reference :thumbsup2

the bookings will be linked but as they are seperate ref numbers they are classed as seperate bookings even though they are linked.

If you find out about the ap dining i would be interested in that as we are booked with virgin for this year and would like to add dining but like you say we have ap from the wedding

Don't worry hun, I can't find where I saw this now either, it was on the main site under Dining somewhere, I noticed it yesterday.
Let me have another look..........

Ah, here is the bit I saw:

DISNEY DINING PLAN

Annual Passholders can now add the Disney Dining Plan to their reservation. This will make the booking a package subject to the terms and conditions of those reservations. (Paid in full 45 days in advance, etc.)

Availability of the Disney Dining Plan add-on is limited and cannot be combined with any other discounts (AAA, Bounceback, etc.) It can be applied to a AP discounted room as well as one that's rack rate.

But that's all there is, doesn't mention whether or not travel agents can be involved in the process and there are no links to further info on this new addition.
I think that's why I presumed that it's something that can only be done through Disney.
I'll see how I get on with Virgin (probably later this week I think by my dad gets in touch!), but I suspect we may have to look into the DDE instead, for me and Simon at least. I would have preferred the DDP so that everything (exc tips) is pre-paid for, but we shall have to wait and see.............

we have the dde card and used it on our planning session trip and i would say just in 1 week it paid for itself, we got discount in the foof court at pop for all our meals and most of the other restairants as well so well worth looking into
