I have talked to 3 different CM about adding DDP to our package before we leave, and have gotten 3 different answers. Which CM is giving me the correct info?
*You can add the DDP on to your package up to two weeks before you check in.
*You have to add the DDP to your package 45 days or more before your trip, or you are subject to the $50/person package change fee
*You can add the DDP to your package up to 2 days before you check in. This CM told me that she has been there for 3 years and KNOWS this is absolutely okay. There will be no charge because we are upgrading our package (her words)
We haven't added DDP yet because I am sitting on the fence after reading everything on this board. We used the DDP in Dec '06 and loved it. However- I don't care about not getting apps, too much food for us.
Also, we will be tipping in cash. Does it help to tell the server that when they come to collect our cards?

Okay, ignore response number 2. While you should change your package as early as possible, it does NOT have to be done more than 45 days in advance. Disney never (as far as I've heard) charges a change fee if you're ADDING to your package.

Responses one and three are more iffy. I don't think you need to do it two weeks in advance; on the other hand, two days isn't enough time. I've seen five days, and I've seen 72 hours. As I said, the sooner you upgrade your package, the better. For safety, I'd plan on the five days.

We are going in August, either way we are using the dining plan, if they don't offer it we are just going to pay. I figure we should know by April

I have the 2008 DDP brochure here, and it is the one for the DVC, but it says you can add it up to 48 hours before you arrive. However, even if that is totally accurate, I wouldn't want to wait that long since most good ADRs would be gone by then. unless you made them all then just added the DDP

I was told either two or three days (thought it was three but not certain). As long as you're increasing the price of your package you won't be charged the change fee. I know it's less than 2 weeks though.

I was told by a CM a few weeks ago that it was 3 days. Like you said tho, you can never get the same answer from any of the CM's.
