Adding someone to membership.

My family purchased our dvc membership when I was a child. Now that I’m an adult, I use the membership more than they do. The issue is now that I’m only an associate member and this impacts things like purchasing the discounted platinum pass. Has anyone gone through the process of adding someone to the membership and can let me know what I’ll need to do?

There are several threads detailing what and how to do it. Did you do a search? There was at least one active in the last few weeks.

Call membership services.
Basically they need to sign a deed adding you as an owner.
Gift taxes and the like are implicated

YOU can't do anything. Your parents are the owners, and THEY have to do it. It can be over $400 to do, and is a legal action, not that quick and simple as you seem to think.

I have as have many others. As noted, you can do it yourself or you can get a company like LT transfers to do it for you. Cost from $40 DIY to around $175 for LT transfers to $450 or so for a store front company to do it (per contract).

YOU can't do anything. Your parents are the owners, and THEY have to do it. It can be over $400 to do, and is a legal action, not that quick and simple as you seem to think.

We started the process Dec 13. Got notice we passed RORF Dec 22(even just changing the names requires it going through ROFR). We slacked for a week due to the holiday, and just sent out the deed to OC comptroller with our $40.70 check yesterday. The nice lady that my husband talked to said it should take five days tops from when she gets it to when it is recorded, then we send it to Disney to make it official. So very little cost and about a month of our time.
