I have a free dining package at ASMu for Sept 16 - 20. Currently I'm the only person on the package. A few days ago my daughter mentioned she would like to go with me. Since I have already paid for the package and received my documents, can I add her and get the free dining? Would there be any additional fee other than her ticket? Do I have to do it prior to arrival or can I add her at check-in? (Although I don't know that I would want to risk it)

I can still get her a ticket on my Southwest flights at a reasonable cost.

Aside from the logistics, there is the issue as to whether she should go or not. I didn't include her from the beginning as I felt she would be too busy. She is a sophomore in high school and is on the gymnastics team (first meet is next week). She would be missing 3 days of school, one meet (I think they have about 11 meets) and 3 days of practice. I would love to have her go with me and it would be a great mother-daughter bonding time, particularly since it seems she is always gone with her friends and activities. But I also question as to whether it would be a good idea to miss school and I know her couch would not take the absences well. (She is going to one high school, but because they don't have a gymnastics team, she is competing on another high school's team. They started school yesterday and she got in trouble for being late to practice - her high school gets out at 3:10pm and with afternoon traffic, it takes about 20 minutes to travel between the schools, so she didn't get there until about 3:40pm - practice is 3:30-5:30 M-F - the couch's attitude was get there on time, she didn't care about practical problems, it is just your responsibility to get there - not reasonable at all - what does she expect DD to do, cut class??? )

I guess I am leaning to her not going, as much as I would love it. Need to be the practical adult.

Sorry, I don't always do practical and Disney in the same sentence.

If you go for the trip, you can add her up until a few days before checkin. You will have to pay for her ticket on the phone immediately. She will get free dining.

Good luck with your decision

This is a tough one. As a mother to 4 girls I can understand your problem. I realize that the daughter has a responsibility to the team. But I guess I would be looking at it from a selfish standpoint. Family time is so limited these days with high school students. They are so busy and so social that they put family on the back burner- if my sophmore wanted to go with me I would probably jump at the chance. IT is a tough call... Good Luck whatever you do.

It is my understanding that you have to add her on before hand, but you should have no problem doing that. :sunny:

I've added 2 extra people to my Package (free dining) as well as an room only reservation, so that I could add the 5th person at a cheaper cost instead of paying for a seperate package just for them.

Since you are past the 45 day cut off payment is due when you add her and there is a possibility that you will not receive her magical express tags in time, but she will qualify for everything that you do (free dining, same ticket options).

Thanks for the replies. It is good to know I have the option. I think I will see how this week goes and she has a better idea of how her classes will be. Practices are tough - not only is she doing the high school gynmastics team, she is trying to continue going to her club gymnastics practices, although not the four days a week she used to do.

Well, after the gymnastics parents meeting, I've decided that my daughter will not be coming with me. To do so would probably get her kicked off the team. Three unexcused absenses is dismal from team and she would miss three practices and a meet. "Vacations during season" are not an exceptable excuse for the coach. So it will be just be me as originally planned. But it was nice to know she wanted to go.

That's to bad, would have been wonderful to have that mother daughter time.

Its almost rare to have a teenager that committed to her activities. Good for her for sticking with it, even if she's disspointed she can't go.

Hope you have a great trip.
