Can we add people to a room reservation once we are there? We are staying on rented points. Some of you, I think, were suggesting we do this so that my parents who are staying offsite could come and visit us. I was telling my dh and he said he read something in our paperwork that said you cannot change the people on the reservation. Anyone know for sure?

This is stressing me out. We leave tomorrow. My family is at BLT and my dh's parents are staying there. My mom & her dh chose to stay offsite. None of us realized how hard this was gonna be just to have them come see the kids swim or join us for a QS meal at Contempo Cafe or just hang out in the room...basically be with us during our non-park time.

Any advice? Thanks.

As long it does not put you over the maximum number of people in your room and you are not on the dining plan, it should be fine. We were able to add at the VGC.

No you can't. At the last minute one of my son's friends cancelled and we brought another boy with us, unfortunately at check in it caused a problem, he couldn't get a room key, hence problem with tickets.

The CM at AKV told me those changes need to be made prior to arrival through MS!

Thanks for the responses everyone. I appreciate it. And I did read through that other thread but I was asking specifically about adding after got there so that is why I posted my question separately.

There will be no problem having your family visit you during your stay. I would not add them to the reservation, but would get a parking pass for them so they can join you at the pool, visit at your villa and go to dinner with you. You can easily do that thru the front desk.

Adding them to the reservation might be a challenge, but enjoying a visit with your family is not a problem at all.

Enjoy your stay! :)

This sounds very encouraging. How do I get a parking pass for them?

The only time I tried to add people to the reservation when I was at the resort, the reservation wound up being cancelled right then and there and then was rebooked. It took time when I got home to get my points straighted. That's why your papers say you can't change names, at least that is my guess.

I would call the person who has the points and ask if they can add the names to the reservation. It may cause a problem with the lead name, but the convenience of having keys for them would outweigh the problem of "name order" at least to me. That way, your family will have keys as well as a parking pass, they will be able to use the key at the pool to get in/out, as well as in/out of the building, into the lot to park.

Just stop at the front desk and ask them for a pass. The first time they come in they'll have to tell the guard they are visiting you. After that, just have them display the pass on the dashboard and the guard will let them in.

The parking at CR/BLT is much more restricted than at the other resorts. They most likely would not be able to get a parking pass for people not staying at the resort. Since many of the resorts also want you to show a valid room key in addition to the parking pass they most likely would be turned away at the gate.

So are we just completely out of luck here? They cannot even visit us?

They can visit but will probably have to pay the parking fee. Just try to get the parking pass and see what happens.

How much is the parking fee? What kind of info do you need for a parking pass? Some kind of proof you have a car with you?

Sorry for all the probably silly questions, we are just completely new to all this.

There is no parking fee.

If you try to add them to your reservation at check in, it will likely mess up the member's points. The resort will have to cancel and rebook the reservation and they often screw it up and cause points to go into holding, which is not good. This happened to me the one and only time I rented points out (never again). The renters did something to the reservation when they checked in to BLT and caused our points to go into holding. It was eventually fixed, but the incident soured me on renting ever again.

When you check in, the CM will ask if you need a parking pass. Say yes. Then give it to your parents to display on their dash. Then they can park at the resort when visiting you, without having to pay. (this assumes you won't have a car of your own)

I would never, ever want to mess up somebody's points so thank you for saying that. I'd pretty much written off the option of trying to add them there but definitely will not do that now. We'll just try to get a parking pass.

Thank you all!

At check-in, just tell the CM how many parking passes you will need for the stay. All will have your name/reservation on them. If necessary, just plan to meet your family someplace like DTD to give them their parking passes and you'll be all set.

Again, I would not try to add additional guests after arrival as it could possibly mess up the reservation (and the points of the member you rented from), but having some day guests is not a problem at all. Your resort will be happy to assist.

Enjoy! :)

Thank you! This makes me feel lots better!

i am surprised at some of the replies. We have added/deleted/and added people almost every year for the last 12 years with no problem whatsoever (mostly at BWV). Reservation never had to be cancelled and rebooked. I have added people at check-in, deleted them a few days later and then added new people. I cannot believe "I just got lucky" for so long.

When we removed people from the reservation, we usually turned in their key card as well. Too, not only have I added names at check-in, I have also gotten "day Passes" for friends who are vacationing at the same time (they did the same). This way we all had access to each others rooms.

What I would do is ask at check-in if you can add names and does the reservation need to be cancelled and rebooked. If he/she says yes to cancelling, then stop right there. If he/she says no, then add the names.

Just my Experience and MHO.

I'm like you, I've never had a problem doing this either. The last time was in May. We had 2 rooms, a 1 bedroom with my name on it and a studio with my DH's name on it. After the family left my DH and I moved into the studio and I had my name put on the studio and it was no problem.
