We have friends that live near Disney and may join us for a day. Of course I have made all my ADRs for my family of 4. Will it be an issue if 2 more people show up. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure they will be joining us for the day we have our LeCellier lunch and Coral Reef dinner. :headache:

You should call and have them added. If they don't have a table of 6 at the original time you booked, they may have to move your time a little. Personally I wouldn't chance it just showing up at the podium with 2 extra people. Going from 4 to 6 will probably mean a different table size (not like going from 5 to 6).

We have the same thing happening to us, except we're going from a table of 5 to a table of 9! I booked our adr's last monday (the 5th, our 180 days) and a few days later our friends told us when they'd be joining us. So, I got back on the phone with disney dining and changed our adrs...pretty painless, and I'm happy to know it's now all set. I made 3 changes, and only one of them was a different time from my original, from a 8:30 am adr at Akershus to 10:10 am...not a big deal, happy to have gotten it!

It really depends on how busy the restaurant is at the time. If they have availability and can give you a bigger table, it isn't a problem.

We tried to add 3 people to our party at the podium and were told that they were booked and didn't have a bigger table for us. It was during Thanksgiving week.

If you know for sure that they will be dining with you, change your reservation ahead of time.

I believe that it will be a problem going from four to six, especially at your Le Cellier lunch. You will now require a bigger table, and there are fewer of them. They would be booked by folks with ADR's for 6.
How close to your trip is it?
I would try to call and make the change now.
Good Luck

We had this situation last summer - we had all of our reservations, and then late in the game more family decided to join us. I rebooked when I could, but in several other cases (including Le Cellier) I had to book the additions their own ressies - in the case of Le Cellier 40 minutes earlier than our own reservation. We then went to the restaurant as a group and explained the situation, and that the first group was willing to wait if necessary. In all cases they accomodated us as a group, and we were seated within a few moments of the earliest reservation time.

I tried calling today and they didn't have anything available. we will be there for free dining, I guess I will have to play if by ear.. Last time we didn't know what day they would be coming to see us until the day before. Some people just don't know how hard it is to get an ADR.

You may be turned away with more people then on your ADR, this is espicially true for high volume restaurants like LeCellier or Coral Reef. These two often have trouble seating the people at the reservation time anyway. I wouldn't chance anything.

If they can't increase your ADR from 4 people to 6 people - consider just making a separate ADR for 2 people at about the same time as yours. Many restaurants can seat you together or near each other - it depends on the restaurant, but it's worth a shot if it's all you can get.

The host/hostess at the restaurant has more flexibility than the CM on the phone to combine tables or add chairs to tables.

I agree with the previous poster.....if you know WHEN they are coming, then make a separate reservation for a two table. When you arrive at the restaurant, explain to the hostess what happened, sometimes they can accommodate you... If not, they are still with you at the restaurant, just not at the same table while you dine.. What can you do, it is not like you knew from day one they were joining you. Restaurants fill up and people are turned away who have not booked dining ahead of time.
