Adding park tickets to package

Hi there... receiving conflicting information from Disney. CM's Trying to add on one day of tickets that we would use a day before we stay on property. Apparently we can't book fast passes for that day because the package starts the day we stay on property. This doesn't make sense to me because even if we were staying off property, I could book fast passes. Any workarounds for this? I really want to squeeze in one extra day, but might not be worth it if we can't get any fast passes. Thanks in advance for any advice!

IF you have your tickets booked as part of your resort package, there's no workaround.
The PROBLEM is that it is seldom a positive plan to buy tickets as part of your resort package
unless the tickets are REQUIRED to get some other option (like "Free" Dining.)

I post as many warnings as I can about the downside of making tickets part of the resort stay.

In fact, it is more often a better plan to NOT purchase your park tickets from Disney at all
but, instead, purchase them from an authorized third party ticket discounter
like undercovertourist.com or parksavers.com.

OTOH, I'd not worry too much about not being able to advance book the FP+ on that first day… especially if you arrange to spend that day at DAK, as the FP+ options there are usually easy to book, day-of.

BTW, if you DO have tickets as part of your resort package, and you are not yet close to your check-in date, you might be able to cancel your tickets
and re-buy them as stand-alone tickets.
You can book your FP+ in advance, if your tickets are stand-alone.

If your tickets ARE stand-alone, you can't add any "days" to them until you are at WDW.

BUT, you can just book the "most difficult-to-get parks" in advance, and wait to book at DAK until you are at WDW and have added the extra day(s.)

Thank you, unfortunately I didn't see your advice before we booked so hindsight is 20/20 We were thinking AK on the first evening and my son really wants to try the adventure thing (name escapes me right now) so maybe FP aren't that important. I will also have to figure out if it's worth shifting everything else during our week but that's a different battle. Thank you for taking the time to post!
