Adding Park Hopper Option for 1 day only?

Here's a question my DTwin and I have come across:

We are trying to make this next trip in October as wallet-friendly as possible (I'm sure you know the feeling).
So, this time we're pretty positive we won't be park-hopping b/c the way we figured it we'll be at a park everyday. So, naturally, we don't want to spend all that extra money for a ticket we won't even use.

But here's the thing:
See, we think that on the last day only, we might want to park hop, just in order to get in our favorite attractions one last time-that's how we did it last year. But we don't know if we're really going to do that again or not.

So, does anyone know if you can buy a plain old base ticket and use it the first 4 days and then on the last day be able to add on a park hopper option for just that last day???? If this is doable, would anyone know how much they would charge you to do it? Would it bascially be as much as if I had just added on the park hopper option for the entire length of stay in the first place???

Any info would be great.
Thanks all!
:thanks:

I think that it will cost the same no matter when you add the PH to the tickets. It is $40 to add park hopping to one or 10 days (or anything in between). If I were you, I would just choose my favorite park to end the trip with and forgo park hopping to save some $$.

If you add the park hopper, you have to add it for the number of days the ticket was initially for, even if some of the days have been used. Personally, I love park hopping, so I think it's worth the extra money.

Yup Park hoppers are the same price no matter how many days you add...so add if for the whole trip and enjoy the freedom!

That's true as far as it goes... but it really DOESN'T MATTER how many days the ticket was initially for, because hopping is one price: $40, total, PER TICKET, 1 day, 2 day... or 10 day ticket... $40.

No matter how many days are left on your ticket, adding the hopper option will cost $40.

1 day left? $40

2 days left? $40

7 days left? $40

So I say, add the hopper option when you buy the ticket. Park hopping adds a lot of flexibility, and can help you to avoid wasting part of your ticket. Suppose you go to AK in the morning and wind up finishing the whole park by 2pm - what do you do? Go to Epcot or MGM or MK, finish the day, and get the full value from a day of park pass.

------------------------------

Incidentally, let me anticipate your next question, since it is one of the most common ones on these boards:

Can you just buy a longer pass and use two days of it to get into two parks on the same day?

The answer is no - you cannot get into more than one park on one day with the same ticket. The WDW computer system tracks where a ticket is used each time it is read, and won't let you into a second park on the same day.

Wow - I didn't realize that! That's just one more reason to buy tickets with more days on them. (Saving money and an excuse to go back!)

Of course, then you'd have to buy the no-expiration option!

Can I assume that it's $40 for adults and kids? Also...this can be added at anytime...like upon check-in?

Yes to both.
