Adding One to our ADRs?

I made our ADRs for our upcoming May trip way back in November. Now my best friend's sister has decided to join us! Naturally, she wants to go with us to meals too! Our ADRs are all for 6 adults and one child. BTW, I'm very glad she's coming with us. She's so much fun, and she's great to be around.

What do you think my chances are of adding her to our plans? Last year, we had many tables that had an extra, unused seat. HELP!

We were six and ended up adding two at the last minute. We called and were able to rearrange most of our ADR's. We did have to move times and at two of them we had to split tables (basically it's one ressie with one confirmation number but a notation that says they can split us up) It was pretty hard to find space for 8 so we'll have to be 4 and 4 and may end up sitting far away from each other.

I don't mean to discourage you but you do have about a month more time than I had when we called to rearrange everything. So I say good luck! And be open minded about switching times, splitting tables if necessary and even switching restaurants if necessary.

When you say you ended up with an empty chair last year, did you have an odd number in your party? Was it the seven listed above? If you are already seven and the child will be in a seat you may already be sitting at tables for 8 so you may just need to confirm that there will be an extra seat at your tables.

I think it probably depends on the table in which the individual restaurant chooses to seat your party. If you are already 7 place settings, I would guess that you have a decent likelihood of being able to add one more person. I think the only way you will know for sure is if you call.

Your original reservations are for seven people. Now you want eight. That should be easy as one seat would have gone unused anyway. Going from an odd number to an even number is much better than going from even to odd (might need another table) or adding two people (might need another table).

Thanks to all! We had nine last year. Still an odd number, so most of the time we had another seat.

I think I've worked up the courage to call! Again, thanks!
