Adding on to a park ticket

Turns out one of our guests is arriving to Disney a few days earlier than us. He's flying in from out of the country. I have his Magic Band and was planning on bringing it with me, but now that he'll have a few more days there, do I need to overnight his Magic Band to him to add on a few days to his ticket which I already attached to his band, or can I just send him a copy of his pass so he can give them the number. Sorry if this sounds confusing. I'm not sure how this works and if he'd need the physical card or Magic Band. Thanks!
