Adding-on: Same or Different Home Resort?

Oh wow, I love your holiday use-case. We’re not rolling in points yet but maybe when we have “enough” for our big trips to PVB we can consider others for specific holiday trips. :)
We started in 2013 with just 150 at VGF then started with our add-ons at VGF until we got to the summer trip we wanted in a 1bdrm every year. It sounds like PVB is for your family what VGF was for our family.

The incentives are decent to go direct right now if you get in before the increase and do the MB where you sell back current year points. I could never do that as I am always thinking about what I can do with those points.

Let us know what you ultimately decide.

Oh gosh, we caught add-onitus fast.

We’re halfway through our welcome home stay and thinking about adding another 150 pts.

So to remind folks…we:
- stay in nothing less than a 1-bdrm
- love the newer layouts (PVB Tower, VDH etc)
- do not like split stays

For these reasons we’re thinking about doubling down on PVB so we can have that priority to book the limited number of 1/2-bdrms at the 11-month window.

But I’m curious why others have multiple home resorts and perhaps I’m missing out on a benefit here!

Thanks for everyone’s opinions.
I'm assuming that you are buying to use for many days once or twice a year?

The best strategy depends on your situation.

Definitely, if you go once per year, then having enough points for 7 days (or whatever the ideal duration for you) at a single resort is ideal, especially if you don't do split stays.

However, as we're finding, if you go multiple times per year for only a day or 2, then it might be better to own multiple resorts in order to get 11-month priority at multiple resorts. If that's the case, and you like towers, then maybe consider RIV, BLT, maybe AKL, or maybe wait for LSL.

Your reasons make a lot of sense for a single resort purchase.

We own at 3 resorts( PVB, SSR, RIV). PVB is for 11 months at my favorite Monorail resort. SSR is for sleep around points and RIV is because it was a steal and my wife loves staying there for her solo trips and girls trips.
