Adding on Direct- timings

We are adding on 40 VGF points to our VGF contract. Spoke to my guide this morning when he took down what I wanted and my credit card number. For complicated business reasons which are not relevant he has to send the paperwork to me snail mail instead of Fed Ex. As he has my credit card he can charge the points today.

Does anyone know how this works do they need to wait until they have the signed paperwork before they can charge me and give me the points or do they charge me now and just file the paperwork when they get it? I guiess my question really is do I have to wait until they receive my signed paperwork before they update my points total?

We added on Poly points when they first went on sale and the closing date was set as two weeks later. Unfortunately there has been a delay in my paperwork getting back to them from the UK where I live. (The local carrier took two weeks to pass it on to FedEx!!!) I phoned DVC last week on the closing date to tell them the documents weren't going to get there on time. I was worried that the contract would be cancelled as we also hadn't paid at this point. The DVC man said not to worry about the documents and that the contact would be fine. I paid by card over the phone and the points appeared in my account a couple of hours later.

So no, they don't need signed paperwork, just your cash

That's weird my guide said today he couldn't speak to me about the Poly cos I was in the UK. I didn't care cos I want VGF but weird all the same.

That's peculiar. UK sales are definitely allowed (we're proof of that!).

In the past add-on points would be added as soon as you gave DVD your deposit or within a couple of days.

It's a different DVD/DVC now with additional cost cutting, using snail mail, who knows what they will do?

My points were in my account almost immediately (paid by credit card) and I received my documents the next day or so via Fed Ex.

When we have done direct purchase with a credit card, I have noticed the points are in our DVC account while we still have our guide on the phone. However, anytime checks, loans, or if requirements for your country affect the process, then the points could be delayed.

I had one direct purchase that I joke took longer than resale although since I had one resale take less than 21 days it's very close to the truth. I wasn't using the points immediately and it was during a crisis period so I didn't actually follow up for well over a week on why the points were in my account in the normal 24 to 48 hours. Even after asking it still took several days before they located the information they had given to the person who enters the account info.

No, resale points keep their restrictions no matter if you have some direct points or not and DVC doesn't have a mechanism to make restricted points unrestricted.

I don't need them immediately an I bet they are busy with Poly it is just my guide said they only had about 4-6 weeks of points left and I'd hate to miss out on VGF if they forget or he messed up. I'll chase him tomorrow.

Well i' am glad I decided to call. Having waited a week for points to load I called and it turns out my guide had been meaning to call me as my request had got corrupted (whatever that means guess it's fancy talk for i wrote it down and lost the bit of paper). Apparently points will be loaded tomorrow.

I'm really getting the impression Poly is generating a lot of work he seemed to be showing people around the models all day.
