How does the dining plan actually work? Is it worth the cost? I read about it but don't understand what they give you..is it a special card or what?? How do you keep track of what dinner, lunch, snack :mickeybar that you've used for the day..
I would like to add this but we do a lot of eating off property for a change.. we love to hit Jungle Jims, IHOP, etc..
If a dining plan special were to arise, I definitely would add it to our reservation.. thanks in advance!

It is an incredible deal if you enjoy the different dining options at WDW. One of the reasons we go to WDW so often is we enjoy the dining options. It is $38 per adult per night and $12 per child. all in your party must be added and it is for the length of stay only. a great deal!! 1 counter svc. per day, 1 table service and 1 sanck per day.

We are going to add it on to our trip in Aug... We are staying 6 nights- 7 days, my question is do we order 6 days or do we have to order 7 days, I only want 6 we are leaving early and heading to US for 5 days.

We just got back and we used the DDP. You must purchase the plan for however many nights you are lodging at disneyworld, seven nights, seven days of DDP.

When we used the plan we found out that you use your park ticket/room key/charge card. You tell your server that you are on the plan and they note it on their ticket and tell you what the plan includes at that restaurant. When your dining is complete you are given two tickets, one to sign for the restaurant, the other to show you how many meals you have left. (note: if you get a table service, the remaining balance only shows the table services you have left. If you get a snack, the remaining balance only shows the snacks you have left.)

Tip is included with the DDP.

We worked out the numbers and we paid $38 a day and usually would have paid our $50 - $55 for the food we ate had we bought it outright. Even if we didn't have deserts and appetizers, we still would have paid around $40 for lunch and dinner in the parks.

That's great info. Thanks..
So, if we go for 9 nights 10 days then we have to pay for a 10 day dining plan.. we too are leaving early on the last day.. It's something I have to think about..if there were a special, I would take it in an instant..I'm glad Disney lets you know how much you have left on your plan! Thanks!

If you arrive late/leave early, Disney may work with you on the dining plan days. They have in the past; they may or may not now!

And remember, some of the venues require 2 TS credits, so that extra day might not be a bad thing! :)

If you go for 9 nights/10 days you pay for 9 day dining plan.

So are there things on the menu that you can't order?

We're on the Magic for a once-in-a-life-time trip 8-weeks from tomorrow AND now I am starting to plan our summer 07 WDW trip.

pirate: 20+ trips to WDW (86-06)
:bride: 10 trips to WDW (75-04)
princess: (14 1/2) 7 ...(95-05)
princess: (12 1/2) 6...(95-04)
princess: (8 1/2) 5...(98-04)
princess: (6) 4...(01-04)

The DDP is based on the number of nights you stay. So if you are staying 9 nights that is how many days you would pay for. We used it last year and LOVED it. The savings were incredible!! Also, you order off the same menu and when you are done you just give them your resort key and they scan it for right amount of CS or TS that you used. I know that some don't like it but IMHO you can't go wrong with the DDP!!! :thumbsup2

It's a awesome value and I think you are foolish if you turn it down! You have to eat while you're here, and you're spending all this money to go to the parks, why not enjoy some of the great dining experiences Disney has a a great price?
