We currently have points at OKW. If we did an add-on at SSR, what would be the limitations on that account? Let's say, for the sake of discussion, that we added on with the same use year we now have (Oct)

Specifically, if we wanted to book SSR 11 months out, would we need enough points in the SSR account to book, or could we use the points interchangeably since they are in the same use year?

Also, is there any advantage of having the same use year for different contracts, other than only having to worry about one set of banking deadlines?

DVC add-ons will have the same Use Year as the master contract. The 11 month reservation priority applies only to the points owned at that resort- you cannot combine points for a resort reservation until 7 months (you can combine points at 11 months for any of the non-DVC options).

There is no advantage to having all points in the same Use year, but if direct add-ons will always have the same Use Year. Same Use Year contracts will certainly simplify tracking points, but it is very doable even with multiple contracts and Use Years.

Enjoy!

You can also bank and borrow your contracts independently to help assist your bookings.

For simplicty sake, let's say you need 300 points annually and own 150 at OKW and 150 at SSR. In 2005 you could use all of your '05 points at SSR and BORROW the 150 from '06 to book at 11 mos. You would then BANK your '05 points at OKW.

Then in 2006 you would use your current and banked points to book your OKW stay at 11 mos.

Also note that in order to "add-on" a different Use Year, they need to assign you an additional master contract. In order to do that you have to buy at least 150 points. If you buy less than 150 you can only add the same UY.

With multiple Use Years you need to track different banking and point expiration deadlines. You'll also want to go above-and-beyond whever you make a reservation to confirm with Member Services that they are pulling the points from the correct contract and that their records match yours.
