We recently bought SSR-DVC and will go home for the first time this May to VWL. Now I am considering buying some VWL points. I'm sure this has been asked before (forgive me), but if I buy some VWL points - can I combine my SSR and VWL points for use next year? Or can I only book 11 mo out at SSR, and 11 mo at VWL, but can't combine the two for use? Can I get around this at the 7 mo mark?

When booking in the 11-month window you can only use SSR points at SSR and VWL points at VWL. In the 7-month window, you can combine your VWL points and your SSR points to book at any resort, subject to availability.

So, is the plan for people who own at multiple resorts to have enough points at each for a week or so stay at each or small add ons to get you into that resort for smaller stays at the 11 month window? Why more than one resort is what I really want to know. And I know the answer will be varied. I really want to know what the benefits or negatives are.

We are waiting ROFR on our contract of 50 points. Paying cash. Plan is to add on when we save enough to pay cash again. So do I want them all at one resort or do I want them at a different one?

Thanks for asking OP. I knew about the 11 month window per resort but you gave me the chance to ask something that I have been trying to figure out. Thanks in advance for your help. I am still on a learning curve.

I added on a small 50 pt. Vero Beach contract to get the 11 month ressie's. This gets me 5 days in an OVIR most seasons, I can borrow for the extra pts. I need in the other seasons. Most say they can get VB at 7 mos, but I don't want the hassle. Pts. were cheap enough, I will probably add on another 25 pts. just so I don't have to borrow.

One cannot combine points from different home resorts to use at the 11-month window. You can when the 7-month window opens up, however.

Remember, also, that you can bank and borrow.

you could buy 1/2 the points you need to stay at both of 2 resorts. Then with banking, you could alternate staying atthe 2 places on different years. One year AKV, next year BCV. For each of those you'd have the 11 month window to book.

That's it!!! My brain couldn't see it. I couldn't see past travel in 1 year. That makes a lot of sense. Wait until I tell DH about this!!! Thanks, thepops!!
