Looking for different perspectives -

We are looking to add on (again).
We currently have 380 points at GCV.
We live in Ca and go to Disneyland the most which is why we started our Disney life with GCV.
We are going to Aulani in May. I've been to the resort to look around but haven't stayed.
Our kids are getting older (youngest is 4) and can handle longer trips so we are planning for Florida in 2016 (or 2015 if we get more points).

Because my husband teaches, we can only travel december/january or summer, so we use a lot of points when we take trips.

Booking Aulani at 7 months was fine. Unfortunately, I changed my mind on room type and now we have a split stay (10 nights one room/4 in another unless waitlist comes through), but I consider that my fault, not difficulty in getting room.

I don't see us going to Florida that often (kids may travel well, by airfare for six is still costly).

Do you think it is more advantageous to add on to ONE resort or split up points between multiple resorts?

I'm curious to other peoples thoughts/mindsets/opinions on # resorts to own at.

Thanks in advance =)

If your trips are point-heavy, I'd stick with as few home resorts as possible so you can use big chunks of points at 11 months out.

agree.

keep in mind that at 11 months out with 2 resort contracts, it's as if you are 2 different owners. points from the 2 contracts cannot be combined until 7 months out.

so unless you like a lot of split stays (or plan to stay at each resort every other year by banking and borrowing from the contracts), it's easier to just own 1 resort.

Ahhh, thank you! That's exactly why I posed the question - because I knew there was probably some logic that I wasn't thinking of that would make sense. I appreciate it =)

Don't forget, you can do a point transfer or rent some points for just the WDW trips. Then you would not be paying MFs for points you do not need on an annual basis.

I own at three resorts and we do a lot of split stays because of that. I swear my next stay I do not care were it is, I am not changing rooms.;)

IMO WDW gives you more bang for your buck due to it's size and offerings. Owning Aulani is expensive, getting there can be expensive and once there you have one resort and/or you have to go off property for extras.

WDW has 4 parks, 2 water parks, DTD, a ton of restaurants, and something to keep everyone busy.

I would spend some time at WDW before making my decision.
