Adding on 1 person to a park reservation?

We are headed to WDW for Labor Day weekend. I made park reservations several months ago. Now it looks like we will be having another child join us. The parks we have scheduled are booked on the website for our days. Has anyone had luck having the resort concierge add on one more person to a pre-existing reservation?

I imagine they have the number limited for a reason. Imagine Disney will say no- think if everyone asked the same question.

True, but I wouldn’t think this would be a common situation. Much different than a whole party asking for access that wasn’t available. We booked early were able to secure reservations. Now we have a 1 person change in party size. Thought Disney may have built some flexibility into the system?

Well, you would think wrong. If you saw how many times “can we just add 1 more” came up on re: restaurant ADRs & Fatspasses, you would know this isn’t an uncommon situation. People asked that question about ADRs & FPs several times a week for years. And they always think they have a special circumstance that doesn’t apply to anyone but them. “Relative decided to join”; older kid decided to come”; “local friend wants to meet us”; “ spouse’s schedule changed & they can come”; “didn’t think I had to count the little one” “we will be having another child join us” & on & on. Park reservations are just one more thing people going to want special exceptions for. And 10 parties asking to add 1 more person each is no different than a party of 10 showing up asking to get in. Extra people are extra, no matter how they ask to be admitted.

Have you looked in the last few days? There are reports Disney opened spots this week. The park reservation system is new & only now starting to fill up, so there haven’t been reports of people getting exceptions made. No way to know if Disney will be making exceptions. You can try calling to ask or you can gamble & show up with the extra person. But what will you do if the extra person is denied? I would suggest having a plan before you go.

Nope this is all new and it does not look good for Labor Day weekend.

Sept 3 - All Available
Sept 4 - All but HS available
Sept 5- Only Epcot
Sept 6 - No parks available
Sept 7 - All but HS available

Availability is subject to change and may not reflect the reservations available at the time you make your reservation in the Disney Park Pass reservation system.

I would hope they don’t allow extra people in - it is going to be too crowded as it is since they increased capacity. That is very unfortunate for you OP, but people probably would be trying to get in for all kinds of reasons.

Like you, we had an existing reservation & called Disney to add our daughter today. She got on the park reservation system, and had no problem adding herself to the parks we were scheduled for.
You might have difficulty with HS on Sunday or Labor day. We are going to HS on Tuesday, when the locals go back to school & work.

So your daughter added herself after looking at the reservation system online OR Disney added her? (I wasn’t sure after you said you called to add but then said she did herself)

I would just keep stalking the website looking for openings.

Can I give up my reservation and give it to the other child? My wife can bring the 2 kids into the park without me. Is that possible?

I agree that you need to talk to Disney. We all feel bad for your situation but there are probably others in the same situation and Disney has to keep it consistent.

Keep stalking the website. I just noticed that Sept 7 is now fully available (for resort guests). Previously, HS was not available on this date.

***At 2:25pm (17 minutes later) it was back to 'HS unavailable' so you have to keep checking.

Yes, a call to Disney added her to the hotel reservation. My daughter went into the Park Reservation System, and picked the days and parks.
Good Luck!

I wasn’t one who wanted to add person- it was another poster. I was just trying to clarify if you were adding your daughter to room reservation or park reservation. OP wants to add one person to park reservation- and there is no availability. OP thinks non-issue to just add person since not common request 😁

Glad your daughter did what was correct and found availability on her own!

thanks for clarifying

September 4th all parks available. Just posting to show that you can get a park reservation if you keep looking.
