Adding night light for kids in an inside stateroom

Never tried it on DCL, but when the kids were small and we traveled we would pack a short string (75 or 100) of led lights like the ones made for Christmas trees in a muted color. The we had a small string of orange Halloween lights we used on several trips. The orange was a very muted light. We would plug them in and trail along a counter top. I know they make battery operated ones. They pack well with less chance of a blown bulb or broken light in checked luggage.

Oh I love this idea and he would LOVE that! I wonder if DCL would allow this? I could use the battery operated ones too.
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but "Seasonal and celebratory lighting strings" are on the Prohibited Items list.

My son won't be able to sleep in complete dark in the stateroom. We will be on the Wonder in an inside. What have you don or brought with you to help them with this? We don't have any portable night lights here so I'm wondering what to bring that will work the best. There's limited outlets so I imagine I'll need to bring something battery operated. I thought about leaving the bathroom light on and door cracked but they tend to creek when open. Is there a light over the couch or a soft overhead one like on the Fantasy? I've been on the Wonder twice but 2 years ago he didn't have such significant fears and anxiety about the dark as he does now and I can't remember what lights are in there.

Any ideas? What's worked for you?

Have you ever thought about those battery operated LED tea light candles? They are very low powered, inexpensive and last quite awhile. Just a thought :)

Not bright enough. I guess I shouldn't have said night light, lol. He needs brighter than that. I guess I should have said dim light.

I don't know about the wonder but the Fantasy has a night light mode on the overhead lighting in the sofa area of the cabin. It's just one of the switches at the desk area that you have to switch on.

I want just on the wonder two weeks ago-inside cabin. You can leave the light on in the closet where the safe is in right across from the bathroom. :)

I brought a little battery operated LED light. Its small, easy to pack and the batteries last a ver long time.

Put a piece of luggage in the door to stop it from opening and closing. I put my carry on inside the closet and it was a perfect fit.

A little:offtopic: here, sorry.

Are the lights in the closet on the Wonder in all categories of rooms? We've done 3 Wonder cruises and I don't recall a light actually "in" the closet. We've only been in oceanview rooms, and the only light around there that I remember is the one in the hallway between the closet and the bathroom.

Can the magic portholes work like night lights?? Im hoping that it will give a feeling of when morning is also!! Lol that to me is the worst part of an inside room.

The magic porthole shows the outside. Outside at night is, of course, dark. Doesn't work. :)

And actually at night we just got the "snow" like back when TV stations would go off the air in the olden times (LOL).

Yup. We used that. It was perfect. Anyone know if the Wonder has this?

Well, in an oceanview room (unless it was changed during her dry dock) the light in the sofa area is just the ceiling light. And there were lights on either side of the mirror over the desk. But full lights, not muted.

Ok so he has a light up pillow, a light up friend, a light right over his bed, a night light, and the hallway light with the door open. He also has about 10 stuffed friends AND a body pillow in bed with him. He's still very afraid. Sleep onset is a huge issue here. I think I'll get a bright night light.

I haven't sailed on Disney, but can you bring a multi outlet USB charger and then a USB light to plug into it. that way you can charge your phones AND have a light, too.

While helpful, I'm pretty sure the OP (and others) have sailed by now. This thread is 4 years old.
