My son won't be able to sleep in complete dark in the stateroom. We will be on the Wonder in an inside. What have you don or brought with you to help them with this? We don't have any portable night lights here so I'm wondering what to bring that will work the best. There's limited outlets so I imagine I'll need to bring something battery operated. I thought about leaving the bathroom light on and door cracked but they tend to creek when open. Is there a light over the couch or a soft overhead one like on the Fantasy? I've been on the Wonder twice but 2 years ago he didn't have such significant fears and anxiety about the dark as he does now and I can't remember what lights are in there.

Any ideas? What's worked for you?

My DS6 uses a dream light, those little stuffed animals with the lights on the back. They shut off after like 30min, so that wouldn't work if your son needed to get up to use the bathroom, but if just for falling asleep, it is great.

Another idea, those battery powered tap lights. They used to have them at the dollar stores, but will have them at any hardware stores. Then you won't have to worry about using up an outlet

we borrowed a door stop from the guy who makes up the room, we turned the light on in the bathroom with the tub and the used the door stop to keep it open only a crack. worked great.

We normally sacrifice the use of one plug at night for a small LED nightlight.

If I remember correctly the closets on the Wonder have a light in them that can be left on.

Can the magic portholes work like night lights?? Im hoping that it will give a feeling of when morning is also!! Lol that to me is the worst part of an inside room.

We have used a small LED night light and plugged it in behind the TV

If you leave the closet door open enough for the light to activate it will slide back and forth with the rolling of the seas :(

You can also use a rolled up wash cloth to place in the bathroom door with the tub light on, door is open a couple inches which is a nice amount of light ::yes::

Then hopefully he will have had such a busy day he falls asleep right away and sleeps straight through the night pixiedust:

We didn't have an inside room, but I left the light on in the shower bathroom and closed the door completely. Enough light (for us) came out through the bottom. I just did this in case someone had to get up in the middle of the night, so they wouldn't walk into something.

Check out the Durofix rl435. They plug into charge and then work as a flashlight or night light. We use it around the house all the time. My daughter also takes to camp so she doesn't burn through 18 d batteries in 6 nights at camp

I was going to say the bathroom light or closet light work great...no need to pack more than you need to.

I thought the light on the clock was plenty bright enough in the room. I took the extra pillow and tried to block some of the light without covering the clock.

I'm light sensitive and like complete or as close as I can to complete darkness to sleep.

I totally agree! We just got off of the Magic and I had to unplug the clock and hide it because of the aura of the light in the room. He won't have a problem if he doesn't mind blue light rather than white. Enjoy your cruise!

Oh he sleeps with a light on in his room. Not overhead but a smaller light. The clock wouldn't be enough. On the Fantasy I turned on the ceiling light over his bed. That helped. Yes, it's not easy for me to sleep that way but I pulled the curtain so that helped. I can't remember if a dim light like that is present where the couch is on the Wonder.

I'll be leaving the bathroom light on for sure. Not the door open though because it makes noise with rocking. The closet doors do too if you leave then open.

I'll also look for a travel night light.

Thanks!

Never tried it on DCL, but when the kids were small and we traveled we would pack a short string (75 or 100) of led lights like the ones made for Christmas trees in a muted color. The we had a small string of orange Halloween lights we used on several trips. The orange was a very muted light. We would plug them in and trail along a counter top. I know they make battery operated ones. They pack well with less chance of a blown bulb or broken light in checked luggage.

Oh I love this idea and he would LOVE that! I wonder if DCL would allow this? I could use the battery operated ones too.
