Adding names to deed

Can a member add the name of a child or children to the deed in case of an health emergency?

You cannot just add names to a deed. The process would be a transfer of ownership via a new deed from exisitng owners to the new owners (including yourself and anyone you want to add). Note if you do that the child will have an ownership interest in the property and could (a) force a sale, (b) have the property attached by his creditors if he has financial difficulty. There are other ways to deal with the issue of what happens if you have a health emergency and you should likely contact a lawyer before doing anything.

It depends on how you do it. You can change one deed for under $30 bucks if you know how and are willing to do some of the work yourself. Otherwise it's just like a timeshare closing with the same charges.

What do you mean by "health emergency"? If you mean that you are incapacitated and can no longer use the membership, making the child an associate on the account would mean that they could make reservations, but would have nothing to do with the finances. (You'd have to sort out how the MFs would be paid in that case.)

I did this last summer. Used a FL specific quit claim deed template and filed it myself. Contact DVC by email and ask them for the info. They'll send you some forms and paperwork. you'll then submit a transfer form and they'll send you a Right of First Refusal Waiver. You'll have that and the deed and waiver recorded with Orange County (for WDW). Not a big deal overall though some tend to make it so when they don't have to.
