Adding Genie+ to Canadian Tickets

I have 3 sets of the 2017 Cdn tickets (2030 expiry and they never disappeared from my MDE) and 1 dated ticket for July 2022 (bought with airmiles) in MDE and only my daughter’s dated ticket can be upgraded to include G+ for the whole 5 days. My understanding is that I need to add G+ every day after midnight if I don’t want to loose our Cdn special deal. To add G+ for the whole trip would mean upgrading to today pricing + cost of G+. No thank you.

Do we have to call to add Genie+ to our tickets? Or can we do it on the WDW website through MDE?
I tried to use MDE, but could not figure it out, did not see any offering or other way of doing it. Same with upgrading to PH, which we might do. So I ended up calling. As usual, I waited on hold for like three times longer than the actual time it took to add Genie+ once I got a CM.

The Canadian Tickets from 2017 need to activated at GS with a passport before they are "valid". We did that last week and added G+ per day (we didn't add it the first day as it was an AK day). From memory, you have to use the ticket in a park to be able to upgrade it (which would include a full trip G+) at the current rates.

It doesn't cost you any more to add Genie+ day by day than it does purchasing it in advance. The only difference would be if/when they increase the price of Genie+. I would just add it day by day as you need it.

On a related note, we bought Canadian tickets with Maxpass for DLR before covid--we wanted to get the Maxpass converted to Genie+, but we were told over the phone that wasn't possible. We could have submitted a request for a refund, but the CM suggested it was probably better to get a refund when we were at the resort. We'll have to purchase Genie+ as an addon each day we want it--one more thing to take care of, but better than nothing.

So, when I call to reactivate and pay the difference in today's price, I can't add Genie+? I will have to wait to add it until I go to Guest Services when they validate the vouchers?

I don't think you can activate them over the phone. You have to go to guest services. I'm not sure of the cost at that point, we didn't ask.
As a pp said, there is no benefit adding G+ for all days before. Just do it per day to be safe.

Note that the Canadian Tickets I am referring to are the ones from 2017 (ours were 4 day not sure if that was the only option) that show up in MDE with a 2030 expiry date. We had other Canadian "dated" tickets from August 2020 that don't show up in MDE anymore - These are just a credit in your account against a new purchase.

No, I know you can't activate them on phone, but you can reactivate them into MDE. My question was can we add Genie+ to them now versus waiting until we get the physical tickets at Guest Services. It doesn't really matter since you can only use Genie+ at 7am the day of anyways.

I'm pretty sure a PP above mentioned that she would have had to upgrade her tickets to add Genie+. Not sure if anyone else has tried.

What do you mean by upgrade? Like, changing them to Hoppers, etc? Wouldn't I be technically changing/upgrading them as I will have to pay the cost difference from the old Cdn Resident Rate / Air Miles rate to current prices?

Looks like she had the non-expiring tickets. I would just call about reactivating them and then ask about adding Genie+ at the time. If you can reactivate them in the app/MDE, I don't think there's anywhere you can add Genie for the length of stay online. I've only seen it able to be added at the time of purchasing the tickets.
