Adding FastPass selections for son who's with us just one day?

We decided to leave the older kids at home and go to Disney with our two youngest this September (just trying to balance it out since the older kids have been more often, lol). We are staying on site, and I have already secured our FPs, but we decided just recently to fly our oldest son down for two days for his birthday. I bought his ticket and tried to add him to our hotel reservation, but Guest Services told me that I had to wait until arrival and pay $20 to add him. They would not add him since he is only in the room for one night. So my question is, if he has a ticket in MDE and will be staying onsite, how the heck do I make FP selections for him? The dates are greyed out on MDE, and it won't allow me to choose any FP times. Can I just wait until my 30-day window, as if he is staying off-site? Thanks!

You can include him with the rest of your party when you make FP. I just did this last night with DH for a trip in Oct. He is not sure if he's going to come so for now I have just me, DD and DGD on the resort but I made our FP for all 4 of us. It was no problem. I was able to add him along with the 3 of us on the resort stay for all our FP. When he decides if he's going I'll call and add him to our room but in the meantime, our FP are all good for 4

If he is linked to your MDE, go to each FP and Change Party. Select him to join your FP group. The system will add him if there is room.

We are doing this same thing in February - where did you buy his ticket that you were able to link to yours? Not from Disney direct since he is not on your room reservation?

If the person is listed on your MDE account, you can link any ticket to that person. You can purchase it through your MDE account directly from Disney, or, you can purchase from a 3rd Party seller and link the ticket to your MDE account.

No one needs a room reservation in order to purchase and then link a ticket to MDE. You just need the ticket confirmation number to link it to MDE.
