Adding Dinning to room only res

Just booked a room only res for 6/16-6/18 yea!!!! When on the phone the CM asked about adding tickets and dinning plan. When I told him that we waned to add those at check in, he informed me that if I did so I would be paying the 2013 rate and would not be able to add dinning at all. He stated that the dinning had to be added no later than 3 days prior to check in. Is this true? If so I am really bummed and will drop half of my dinning res because we had planned on doing the DxDP.

Don't know what he means about the "2013 rate". If he's talking tickets, those will be at that rate already (it changed this past Sunday).

As far as the dining plan, he is correct. You cannot add/remove/modify a dining plan less than 3 days prior to arrival. (2 days for DVC points reservations)

That is correct. Dining plan has to be added before check in. Then once you add the dining and tickets, the package has to be paid in full 45 days in advance. Since your trip is coming up, it would need to be paid when you make the changes.

Ok, first off, you can't "add dining to a room only reservation". Room only means just that. If you want the dining plan, you must have a package. If you are not an annual passholder and are not using military tickets, your package must include a ticket purchase. (minimum 1 day base ticket) Packages have a completely different set of payment/cancellation rules than a room only reservation. The CM is correct in that you can't add the dining plan at check in. You must cancel your room only reservation and book a package, and pay in full, no later than 72 hours before check in.

Can't be done. Add dining, and you will need to cancel the room only reservation and book a package. And you won't be able to add it at check-in, it must be done no later than 3 days before arrival. If you call now and change your reservation to a package with tickets you will be able to add a dining plan.

My daughter and I are going in Jan 2013. To start, I will book "room only" and wait to see IF free dining is offered, then change ressie to a package. My question... do we BOTH need to purchase park tickets to qualify for FD or can I just purchase the minimum required, ex 2 day ticket for 1 person in the party?

On a package, everyone on the package needs to have the same length and type of tickets. So you will both need to purchase them.

Unless your daughter is under three years old you will be required to purchase at least a 2 day base ticket for each of you to get free dining.
