Adding Dining Plan with AP on a Room Only Public Code

Here's the deal.....

I have an AP. We currently have room only reservations for POR at the beginning of January on the public room only discount code since AP codes are not yet out for January.

When AP rates come out for January I will try to convert the reservation from a public code discount to an AP discount but considering we are traveling over marathon weekend there may not be availability at POR with an AP discount rate by that point.

My questions are:

Can I add the dining plan for AP holders onto my current room only reservation that is booked using the public 30% off code?

If I can, what is the latest day I can do this (i.e. 6 days prior to arrival? 5 days? etc.)?

I do understand that adding the dining plan will turning this into a package instead of a room only reservation.

Booking the dining plan with an AP is considered a package - a ticketless package, but still a package. You can't "convert" room only into package, it always has to be cancelled and rebooked when you switch between room only and package.

Ask when you call if that discount code is applicable to an annual passholder ticketless package. All they can do is tell you no, and they might tell you yes. If the code isn't applicable to a package you may have to try or wait for AP rates.

I think they can change your room only to a package without having to cancel (risk losing your room at that resort) but I think because it's a general public code you currently have booked that would require park ticket purchase to turn it into a package (and add dining plan).
If you convert it/change it to an AP rate then you can add the dining plan no problem.
That being said I would still call to ask...I always think it's worth a phone call!

You can re-book your room only reservation as a package to get the DDP, but you'll have to buy a 1 day base ticket. All general public codes are for MYW packages, which include a ticket purchase. Having an AP doesn't exempt you from that requirement, unfortunately. Hopefully AP rates will be out soon and you get get a passholder rate, thus allowing you to both get a discount on the room and be able to get the DDP without having to purchase tickets. Good luck!
