I just stayed at AKV and my point person added the dining plan for me and I paid when I checked in....:thumbsup2 Worked out perfect..

Well my Boss just rented some points for May 2001 at BWV and she is thinking of adding the quick service plan. Does it still work the same way for 2011.

she was told she may have too pay when she adds the dining plan too the reservation. How will she do this??? I liked taking care of it myself so my DVC person did not have too mess with it.

Just inquiring? Thanks,
Michelle

She would have to pay whoever she rented her points from. When Disney updated their computer system last week they also implemented a policy to pay when you order . she does have up until 48 hrs. from her arrival to add the plan to her vacation tho.

I will let her know....So I assume this goes for our regular package that we have booked for December..I have not added the dining plan yet and I need too.....:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info.

Michelle

For regular packages, you are always paying for DDP in advance because your full payment is due 45 days out. If you add DDP less than 45 days out, you will have to pay it in full at the time you add it.

I don't know what I was thinking....:confused3 I knew this and I guess because thetime before I had free dining and then last week it was with DVC so I was not even thinking about how it would work with a package.

I am paying our December trip off Friday so I will just add the dining next month and then one more thing will be paid in full..yippee..I like everything paid ahead of time...:cool1:

Thank you

No this is not true. Regular packages booked through the regular reservations do not pay for the dining plan in full when it is added as sometimes they book their packages before the 45 day mark with 200.00 down and do not have to pay in full till the 45 day mark before their vacation which is insane because now they can reserve some of the signature dining like cinderella and hoop dee doo without being paid in full at the 180 day mark. Are they or did they change the regular reservation guest requirements too?

You're saying exactly what I said - reread what I wrote.

You pay in advance because you have to pay for your package in advance - 45 days as I said. If you are further out than 45 days, no you're not paying for the whole DDP at that time and I never said that. You would be paying the normal deposit.

If you add it after 45 days out, you pay for it at the time you add it, which again is "in advance."

As to your 180 day comment - I don't understand that at all - you don't have to paid in full to make dining reservations at 180 days. You don't need the DDP or even a resort reservation to make reservations at 180 days so I don't see what paying in advance has to do with anything.

I didn't think you could just "add" the dining plan to a regular reservation. It has to be a package. So if you got a discounted room, you'll have to cancel that reservation and do a whole new reservation to include the dining and tickets for the entire party staying in the room, right?

No you do not but for certain restaurants your have to pay in full for the reservation such as hoop de doo or cinderellas table or any other dinner shows if you do not have the dining reservation on your reservation or package. Thus it has to be paid in full by the DVC customer and not the regular resort guest who book packages that comes to the tune of paying 40-50 a person to reserve. Can easily run 200.00 for a family to reserve. Hope my point is clearer on what I am saying

Thats right and not my point either but just saying there is a benefit being lost to DVC members on having to pay for the dining plan that resort guest get to add it and not pay till the 45 day mark. Maybe they (Disney) are hoping no one will notice.

Not meaning to say you aren't correct just clarifying something that may not be realized by some. As I do find it a bit of one disadvantage to have to pay when its added as it was nice to add and have till 45 days before to pay in full and still be able to make dinner show reservations without a cash deposit of 40-50 dollars. Of course there are may other advantages to DVC but this is not one.

OK, y'all just blew my mind with this. I have been a Florida resident and used the great deals I got that way with my resident status and passholder status, but now we are taking a grand gathering trip to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary in Dec 2011 and going to rent points this time. I will have an annual pass but everyone else in our party will be purchasing tickets and DDP. How will this work for us while renting points?

Will the DVC member work out the DDP for us and will we pay the member? Or will we go through Disney somehow? I'm a nervous wreck already in renting points so hopefully this will be an easy transaction? :scared1:

Only the member can add the DDP to a rented points reservation and you may find members now that won't want to deal with it due to the pre-payment requirement. You would have to either give cash to the owner and they could book it on their credit card (I would never do this I don't think) or give the owner your credit card number or have a 3 way call with the member and DVC member services or something.

MS could have a problem taking a credit card that doesn't belong to the member from the member to pay for the dining plan.

And I was just thinking, what if you decided you didn't want the dining plan at least 48 hours before? How difficult would it be to get your account credited for the payment you already made?

I thought the same thing as I didn't think you were supposed to be able to use someone else's credit card.

And, if a renter does add it and then wants it cancelled, it would just seem like a bit of a hassle to have to refund the money.

Yes having to prepay for the DDP will definitely complicate things when renting.

If I were someone who rented out points, I'd probably NOT offer the DDP as an option to clients. It just wouldn't be worth the hassle for me. OR....I might offer it if it was done just a few days before the trip and paid in full prior to booking it.

For what i know. Only the DVC member is allowed to book the dining plan for his/ her guests over the phone and should be 48 hours before the date of arrival at DISNEY.

THe credit card that needs to be used upon check in should be the guest's since the reservation was also made under his/ her name.

This makes perfect sense and hopefully this is what I can do! Thank you!

Disney should make it so the renter can call and add the dining and then we could just pay with our credit card at that time. Then the DVC owner would not have too mess with it.

It just worked out so nice last week...My renter added the DDP and then I paid cash at check in....:goodvibes Bummer they changed it...:confused3
