Adding DDP to 1/2 of my stay only???

Never did the DDP before. Was thinking of adding it for my upcoming trip. Cost prohibitive with our family of 6 over 9 days though. (especially now with having to pay for tips OOP)

My question is...

Can I make 2 separate ressies and have the DDP for only one of the ressies.

Say I have one ressie for days 1-4 WITH the DDP (and we do all our character meals and such those days) and then another ressie for days 5-9 WITHOUT the DDP. We could just pay OOP for our meals those days.

Last year we paid less OOP for food/tip than it would have cost us on the DDP. THis year I wanted to splurge and do more TS and Dinner SHows. Does a split ressie sound like a way to get the best of both worlds?? I would get my park tickets added to my first ressie for all 9 days. The second ressie would be room only.

Can I do this??

Or does someone have a better suggestion??

Thanks!

I would think it was possible doing it that way, and sounds like a good idea to me:thumbsup2 let us know if it works out...it is something I might like to try in the future

The only thing is remember to put your Park Tickets on your first package.

Then I would do a room only for the last days. Upgrade your tickets when you arrive to the 9 day or 10 day or just them for that many days from the 1st ressie.

Also I'm sure your DDP credits all expire at 12::midnight the last day of that ressie so make sure they;re all used by then.

To do that, are you talking about actualy checking out and back in another room or the same resort? I'm interested in that but can't imagine the logistics of it. If it were the same resort, will they allow you to have the same room?

It would be the same resort. I would have to go to the desk to actually check out then back in, but should be able to keep the same rooms.

Still thinking this one over.
I think I am just going to book room only and take more time to do the math. :thumbsup2

It is extremely rare when you would need to move rooms, in a scenario like this, but it could happen.

I just did the exact same thing. I was worried about the cost of the DDP for our 11 night stay. I just got off the phone from disney. I split my resercation and booke POP from the 2nd-7th of January with a 9 day hopper, then rebooked POP from the 7th-13th of Jan (6 nights) on DDP and a 1 day park ticket.

They said that it would be very likely that we would be able to stay in the same room the whole time.

See, now I would have done it differently.

I would have booked the first 6 nights with the DDP and the 10 day hopper passes. Then I would book room only for the 2nd half and NO park passes on that ressie. Why pay for those pricey 1 day passes when you don't have to??

I don't think you'll do much more then break even if you're planning on using the 2008 DDP on character meals and dinner shows.

Not sure of the breakdown of your group, but if there are 3 under 10 its like paying $25/pp each day to eat at Disney. If there are less than 3 there is plenty of time between now and the trip, let them figure out a way to earn their DDP fees. You might even have less trouble getting them to eat if they've paid for their part! :lmao:

On these boards people talk about split stays all the time. I never get enough time off to worry about such things. Last thing I want to do on my vacation is repack, unless I was going to a completely new destination or being upgraded to the penthouse. :rotfl2:

.

DDP has to be part of a package room+ticket to get DDP(unless in dvc where no requirement for tickett)
Split stays can be done, have done them myself,2lots of 7 nights to get 14 nights of free ddp last year(had to buy 1 base ticket for each resi)
This year 2 nights room only then 5 nights free ddp (plus were paying for it for 7 nights prior to these stays)

I only did it this way as it is my DH birthday and our wedding anniversary in the second half of the trip and we wanted to be at some nice TS meals on those nights.

Well then that makes sense.
I couldn't think of a better place to spend a birthday AND an anniversary then at WDW. Have a great time!!!
