Adding DDP after booking

Hi everyone

I am hoping to take my family to WDW, in the 1st week in december. It will be their very 1st trip, and I will be paying for it

We shall probably be booking with Virgin Holidays here in the UK as we have vouchers to use with them that will probably pay for most of our holiday.

We will be staying onsite at a value resort.

Is there any way that I can book the DDP for our stay direct with Disney rather than thru Virgin Holidays? Obviously I'd buy my tickets from Disney too.

The reason I ask, is that Virgin charge more than $10per day per person more than Disney does. So if i can make this saving I will

Most of us are not familiar with Virgin Holidays.
DDP is part of a WDTC package. As long as you buy the requirements, you can include the DDP. But I have no idea how Virgin Holidays fits in, or even what it is.
You may want to ask your question on the UK board also.

Virgin Holidays is a large travel agent/tour operator. I would make my booking through them. I just dont know whether Disney will be able to trace the booking and know that I am staying onsite to be able to sell me the DDP.

The cost of DDP booking through Virgin is an extra $280 for the week.

Im gonna email Disney now and ask. Only way to find out for sure!

Does DDP need to purchsed before arrival at resort or could I add it when checking in?

You need to have a package to get the dining plan. The travel agency "owns" your reservation. So they would have to do it for you. Only way for you to do it is cancel your existing reservation and book your stay and tickets directly through Disney.

Not gonna happen unless you cancel with them and rebook directly with Disney. You cant purchase the DDP separately from disney for a travel agent owned room reservation.

Why don't you book through Dreams Unlimited? Or a US based travel agency that specializes in Disney. They just book through Disney and can add dining to a package, etc. You can communicate for free via e-mail and have them do all your dining reservations, etc.


I think the packages you book in the UK through Virgin are different/have different restrictions, right?

Yes there are quite a bit of restrictions when booking disney through Virgin. You can only go for either 7 or 14 days, no option to stay concierge, etc.

However I need to book virgin as I have vouchers (gift certificates) to use for them.

Here in the UK, we have a large grocery store called Tesco. It has a loyalty scheme.

For every £1 I spend I get 1 point. 100points is worth £1 to spend instore, or £4 to spend on selected affiliated companies. One of these is Virgin holidays. They always have special deals on items with extra points. For example this week when you buy a certain game for the nintendo ds, you get 500 points.

You can also earn points by recycling various items at the store such a bottles, ink cartridges or cell phones.

So basically by doing my grocery shopping I can help pay for my holiday.

I have been saving for 5 months now and have £1600 ($3200) towards our holiday.

I think we are gonna not bother with the dining plan, I have been saving up my spare coins everyday, since january I have saved over £200, so hopefully by the time we travel I shall have around £500. I shall use this for our food and drinks while on vacation.
