Or other options (like no expiration). Can I just add one more day while I'm down there? Right now we have 9 day tickets but if we decide to not do our character breakfast and go to the MK our last morning - can I go to the hotel concierge desk and just add a day - I assume they add it at the 10 day ticket rate not a single day rate right? What if we decide not to go to the parks for say 2 days and stay at the resort and can we add the no expiration option? I do understand I can't add that option for part of the trip and it would apply to all 9 or 10 days of my ticket - but can it be added during the week if needed?

Hi there! :goodvibes

The concierge desk at the Poly can indeed modify your tickets for you. And they will charge you the 10 day ticket rate, not the single day rate. It's pretty painless. You can also get any additional options added like no expiration as well added during that week of your stay. :thumbsup2

Yep. You can add days (up to a total of 10) or options to a MYW ticket within 14 days of first use. So you can add one additional day to a nine-day ticket and will pay only the difference between the cost of a 10-day ticket and a nine-day ticket.

You should carefully look at the costs of the no expiration option, since there are only a very few situations where it makes sense. In your case, for example, adding no expiration to a nine-day ticket actually costs more than buying a new two-day ticket at today's prices. As a result, you'd be better off throwing away two days on this ticket and buying a new two-day ticket than adding no expiration just to save two unused days.

All of these transactions can be done at your hotel concierge desk, at any park ticket booth, or at the guest services locations in the parks or at DTD.

Clearly, I'm not the OP, but I had the exact same question and you all have provided great answers. Thanks!

Another Q about adding a day to tickets. Does that only apply to tickets you buy directly through Disney? I bought from a licensed retailer (first time I ever did that) and wished now I could add a day onto at least a few of them so I don't have to go to IoA w/ my DH and DS. I bought 7 days tickets, I'd like 8.

You can add days to tickets bought from resellers. In your case you can certainly add a day and it will cost ~$3 plus tax.

Examples of instances where you can't add days is:
(1) if the ticket was first used more than 14 days prior (even if it's no-expiration it can't be modified after 14 days)
(2) if the ticket was complimentary or promotional
(3) if the ticket was maxed out at 10 days - a MYW ticket cannot be more than 10 days in length.
(4) certain specialty tickets like the Military Salute tickets can't have days added.

Hope this helps and have a great vacation!

lilly, my Small World Travel agent told me it was about $3/day to add the 10th day!!! I bet if you knew that you'd have already added it, right? I have heard you can make changes to the tix at the resort, UNTIL you use the tix. Once you use it once, it cannot be changed. Not sure if that's correct but I've read it more than once.

That's GREAT news!~ I just bought them, nothing in your list of caveats will apply thankfully! Would I add it then at my resort or at the ticket counter at the first park we went to? SO COOL! THANK YOU!
Hmm, $3 for an additional day at WDW parks or $80 for IoA and riding NOTHING. Tough decision. :rolleyes1 ;)

That's not true. You can add days at any time until the tickets are 14 days old. You can't take days off and get a refund, but you can add days. Disney is (almost) always willing to take your money! You can also add Park-hopper or Water Parks Fun & More or make the tickets no-expiration at any time during the 14 days (but it always costs the same).

Actually, ticketing gurus here on the DIS recommend that you DO use your tickets before you upgrade them, especially if you buy them from a reseller. If you don't use them, the tickets are a "trade-in" and you will only get credit for what the reseller paid Disney for the ticket (which is probably less than you paid). If you use the ticket first before upgrading, you get full gate value of the ticket. So, in most cases you should use your ticket before you upgrade it/change it.

ppony:

You can wait to add it until you need it for sure. You can even add days if the others are used. As long as you're within the 14 days window, you can add them anywhere, anytime.

I am buying our tickets at a convention rate because we will be attending a dance competition being hosted at Coronado Springs, which is where my room ressie is (also at the specially offered convention rate offered for our event), It is my understanding the highest number of days offered on those convention rate tickets is 8. However, we will be there for 10 nights and would really love to be able to add on 2 more days on our tickets. Is this an option for conventioneers to add onto their tickets, too, if desired, with the concierge when we get down there? thanks in advance :)

You have no idea how happy that makes me! I'll do that then, wait until we're there and get to that point where I know what I and my youngest will be doing. That "extra" day is allocated to the end of our visit anyway so I'll relay have a good idea by then. You guys RULE! Thanks for the info!

I'm almost out of my skin excited for how NOT rushed and commando this trip is going to be with all the days to use. We can all used a more "relaxed" vacation while at Disney right? ;) Once we elbow everyone out of the way at oh-dark-thirty in the morning for our ADRs that is. :rotfl:

can you buy a 10 day ticket, use 9 and add extra days to the leftover one, then pay for non - expiring?

You can't add more days to a 10-day ticket. To add the non-expiration option to a 10-day ticket costs $222.59!

I don't believe you can upgrade the convention tickets. This is from Cheshire Figment's sticky (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1452684)

E. I have a special ticket I would like to upgrade. Can this be done?

The only upgrades that can be done are to regular or Florida Resident MYW tickets, or Annual Passes to a higher level of Annual Pass.

Special Tickets include Touch of Magic, YES (Youth Educational Series) Program, used or unused Special Event Tickets (MNNSHP, MVMCP, NoJ) after the date of the event, any ticket that includes the word “comp” or “complimentary” on it, and any tickets that are not sold at the Park Gates cannot be upgraded or modified in any way. The last group also includes convention tickets and the Ultimate Park Hopper tickets not sold in the US or Canada.

That's what I needed to know! I knew one of you savvy Dis'ers would be able to come up with the answer for me :goodvibes Thanks so much!
