Adding Days to UT tickets - How Does Pricing Work?

I'm planning to get 9-day tickets with Park Hopper and Water Park options, and comparing prices at on Disney's Website vs. Undercover Tourist. UT prices are cheaper, but UT doesn't offer the 9-day, just 8-day and 10-day.

While the 10-day is a slight savings over Disney's prices, but I'm considering what would happen if I bought the 8-day pass from UT and then added a 9th day from Disney. Would they charge the $10 difference between their 8-day and 9-day pass, or would they charge the difference between UT's 8-day pass and Disney's 9-day pass?

I did it two weeks ago and they charged me $10.

Thank you! Can you do this at Concierge, or do you go to a ticket booth? I assume it can be done any time during your stay?

I read something recently about not being able to upgrade tickets that are not purchased through Disney. Anyone know if that is true? I am thinking about getting 5 day tickets from UT and possibly buying a 6th day from Disney while we are there. Thanks

There's a large recent thread on this topic but I think the current bottom line is that it's still possible to add days through price "bridging" and that Disney's policy has not changed on this issue -- though there seems to be a wide variation from CM to CM in terms of knowing how to do this. However, it's important to use the tickets for park admission at least once before adding days or upgrading them, in order to bring their value up to the current gate value.

No doubt others better versed in this process (like Robo) will be able to provide more info.

The policy has not changed. You will be able to upgrade any tickets purchased through an authorized ticket seller such as UT.

Upgrades should be done after you use your ticket at least once. You will want to upgrade at a park ticket window or guest relations as concierge will not be able to help bridge your ticket. Make sure you know what the cost will be to make the upgrade you want in case you run into a CM who is not aware of the process. If they quote you the wrong price wait to get a CM who does know & understands the bridging process.

You'll need to do it at guest services. You should use the tickets at least once first.

Completely untrue. You can upgrade tickets from UT.

Third party resellers sell Disney tickets at a slight discount. They can be upgraded at WDW, without losing that discount, under one condition: They must be used to enter a WDW theme park first. Then, they will be valued at current gate price in the upgrade transaction. This is what Disney calls Price-Bridging. Your upgrade including tax is $10.65 to add Day 9. You can upgrade any time after first using the tickets, but no later than the end of the last day of your current ticket.

If you don't enter a theme park before upgrading your tickets, you will owe for the upgrade plus owe for the discount you received from UT.

CMs at your resort are not trained in advanced ticketing procedures. Don't upgrade third party tickets at any resort. Go to Guest Relations just inside or just outside each theme park, or at a park ticket booth. DTD has 2 Guest Relations locations. There are a few ticketing CMs at these locations who don't seem to know how to Price-Bridge third party tickets. If your have used your tickets, and a CM tries to charge you more than quoted above, ask if he/she Price-Bridged them. If they argue that your tickets aren't eligible for that procedure, politely ask for your tickets back and go to another CM for help. Your tickets are eligible for Price-Bridging, and the CM is wrong.

This was an unfortunate rumor started by someone at a popular website. When people obviously got upset at the news, this website retracted their statement, as there was no evidence to support their post. As it stands, nothing has changed about Disney's current policy to upgrade third party tickets at current gate price if used first. Follow the instructions posted above.
