Adding days to timeshare reservation?

New to us. We have a timeshare reservation from Thursday-Thursday, but will be staying until Saturday. Our in-laws made the reservation, and just getting a timeshare was a giant feat. Anyway, has anyone had any experience adding additional days to a timeshare reservation? I checked online and the rooms are available through various sites (expedia, hotels.com, etc.) for $110-$210/night. I also emailed the resort directly to see if they would meet these rates and add onto our existing reservation. Obviously I'm trying to avoid moving resorts so we have more time to play.

Thanks.

Check with the resort, but there is a big chance that even if you get reservations for extra days at that resort that you will have to move. There may be someone else assigned to your particular unit for the next seven day period. This is very common with timeshare resorts.

We are staying at Cypress Pointe Grand Villas Resort. I emailed the resort, they said to add on through our original reservation (in-laws "gifted" us the reservation). I found the same size villa for $153 online. I would prefer to not move rooms if possible, but it's better than moving resorts. I will try contacting the reservation company, if that doesn't work I'll add on the days separately and try to connect the reservations. I also have a back-up reservation somewhere else, but I need to decrease the days.:confused3

Assuming that your in-laws exchanged a timeshare week that they own for your week at CPGV then the most likely way that the "reservation company" - presumably either RCI or Interval International - will extend the reservation is through an additional exchange of a timeshare week or points (if you're in-laws are timesharing on a "points" basis). So that'll involve your in-laws if they're willing to exchange another week.

Otherwise, going through an Expedia, hotel.com or hotelkingdom.com probably makes sense. I agree with kathy884 that it may be difficult for the resort to satisfy your request to connect two reservations. Some timeshare resorts find it difficult to tie them together when two reservations are through the same source - two reservations from different sources would make it more complex. But the reservation staff at the two Cypress Pointe resorts is good and they'll try to help you if you call them for help, so I'd suggest that it's worth a try.

Good luck!
