DH and I will be traveling to DLR in February. We know we will need two days of hoppers, but we may need three. We don't want to spend the extra money if we dont have to. If we decide we need an extra day while we are there, can we add an extra day after we purchase our tickets, similar to the way you can at WDW? If so, what is the best/easiest way?

TIA

You absolutely can, however be aware that you pay the difference between what you PAID for the two-day ticket and the cost of a three-day ticket at the park. This means if you buy a two-day ticket on sale on Disneyland.com (or from somewhere else), you will lose any discount when you go to upgrade. Disneyland frequently offers specials on 3-day tickets, and actually, as was the case when I visited with my mom in late July, it was cheaper for me to buy a promotional 3-day ticket than it was a 2-day ticket, even though we were only going 2 days. Just look into the pricing first. If you do end up buying a 2-day and upgrading, it has to be done before the end of your second day.

Thank you for the responses!! We are DVC, and are using our points to stay in the GCVs, so the MM isn't a deciding factor, but good to know! :thumbsup2 We may just go ahead and get the 3 day passes tho, just gonna wait and see what the prices for the 2 day hopper ends up being. Right now they only have the price up thru the end of the year.

Heheh, I see this mistake a lot. If you notice, the price for the tickets online says "through Dec. 31 2012", which is the end of NEXT year.

Right now, the price for a 2-day parkhopper is $173, but the price for the promo 3-day park hopper, good through May 28, 2012, is $199. As you can see, it's not much more to just get the 3-day!

 Yep, you got me!! I was reading it as 2011. It's just an extra $52 we don't want to spend if we don't have to. Any experience?? Will these be the prices for a while or will they change between now and Feb 1st?

They will very likely be the same, since they don't usually inflate the prices until summer time, but I'll illustrate what I was talking about in my first post about the cost of upgrading.

So, the price for the 2-day hoppers will likely be $173.
If you buy the promo 3-day park hopper online, you will pay $199.
If you buy a 3-day hopper AT THE PARK, it costs $214.

If you upgrade, you pay the difference between what you paid and the park cost of the ticket. In your case, you will pay the difference between $214-$173 ($41 difference) instead of the $26 difference ($199-173). Basically, if you're fairly sure you'll want the 3-day, it's really better to just buy the 3-day ticket online in advance. Ya dig? :)

Yep, I dig ;) We will just wait a while then before we purchase. We are doing a DCL cruise with 2 nights before and 2 nights after at GCV. We will go into the parks after the cruise, the question is if we want to go in before the cruise. Am I correct to assume the ticket expiration rules are the same rules as WDW? We have 14 days from first use to use all three days?

You're correct. Well, technically they expire "13 days after first use", in other words they expire on the 14th day.

In this case I'd definitely to the 3 day unless you were planning on doing something away from disney during the first stay. There are fewer "out of the park" activities to do on Disneyland property.

Nope, not planning on doing anything else in SoCal, with the exception of maybe/hopfully getting together with some old college friends that live nearby. Lived in CA for many years, not a fan (no offense :flower3:). But we are big fans of Disney and especially DVC!! We REALLY enjoy the DVC resorts! Haven't been to the GCVs yet, so want to just relax and take in all it has to offer!! We get in Fri evening, and head to the ship just after checkout on Sunday. So Saturday is the day that is in question for the extra park day.

Thank you for your input tho :thumbsup2 every little bit of info I can get helps!!

3Minnies......just noticed you live in Modesto! We lived in Tracy for 6 years and both DH and I are UOP grads :goodvibes
